Lubbock Symphony presents 'Handel’s Messiah'

The most-beloved concert of the season for Lubbock Symphony Orchestra (LSO), “Handel’s Messiah,” performed by the Lubbock Chamber Orchestra, premieres at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences, sponsored by Market Street.

Experience the musical rite of the holiday season with Handel’s epic oratorio, brought to life by the power and beauty of choral music, featuring some of the most impactful choral passages ever written.Joining LSO for this holiday tradition is conductor Dr. Eric Allen, according to a news release from LSO.

In addition to his work with the Lubbock Chamber Orchestra, Allen serves as Associate Professor of Music and Associate Director of Bands at the Texas Tech University School of Music.

Under Dr. Allen’s direction, the Texas Tech symphonic band has received nationwide praise and has been selected to perform at national conferences. Allen also serves as Artistic Director and Conductor of the Lubbock Chamber Orchestra, now under the umbrella of the LSO.

As the recipient of four Citations of Excellence from the National Band Association, the LSO has enjoyed the good fortune of adding his exceptional talent and dedication to their conducting roster, alongside Music Director David Cho.Vocal soloists for this performance include soprano Amy Owens, mezzo-soprano Quinn Patrick Ankrum, tenor Eric Reiger, and bass Gerald Dolter.
