Moonlight Musicals presents 'Oklahoma!'
Moonlight Musicals wraps up "Oklahoma!" Aug. 17-19, at the Moonlight Musicals Amphitheater, 413 E. Broadway. Performances begin at 8 p.m.
Rodgers & Hammerstein’s first collaboration remains, in many ways, their most innovative, setting the standards and rules of modern musical theatre.
In a Western territory just after the turn of the 20th century, a high-spirited rivalry between local farmers and cowboys provides a colorful background for Curly, a charming cowboy, and Laurey, a feisty farm girl, to play out their love story.
Their romantic journey, as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road, contrasts with the comic exploits of brazen Ado Annie and hapless Will Parker in a musical adventure embracing hope, determination and the promise of a new land.

'Liberty Valance' on stage at Buddy Holly Hall
"The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15 and 16, in the Crickets Theater of Buddy Holly Hall.
Produced and performed by an independent cast of Lubbockites, the production was written by Jethro Compton and based on the short story by Dorothy M. Johnson.
Journey into the Wild West, 1890 in this classic story of good versus evil, law versus the gun, one man versus Liberty Valance. A stage play telling of love, hope and revenge set against the vicious backdrop of a lawless society.
This production is for mature audiences as it contains strong language, simulated gunshots, alcohol and tobacco consumption and racially motivated violence.

Robison to perform at Buddy Holly Hall
Buddy Holly Hall hosts Charlie Robison in concert at 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, in the Helen Devitt Jones Theater.
It was a natural fit for the Bandera native to take the stage as the 44th artist to record for the Live at Billy Bob’s Texas music series. Recorded in August of 2012, Robison delighted his fans at the world’s largest honky tonk with their favorites, including “El Cerrito Place,” “My Hometown,” “Barlight,” southern rock anthem, “They Call Me the Breeze” and even a special rendition of Elton John’s “Rocket Man.”
Throughout his career and eight albums later, Charlie Robison has forged his own path within the country music world as well as the Lone Star music scene.

Uncle Lucius returns to Cactus
Uncle Lucius returns to the Cactus Theater at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18.
South Austin's Uncle Lucius is a dream, conjured in the minds of five sonic mercenaries, a clarion call to arms for true believers. It is the voice that shake you from complacency, grabs you with both hands and implores: Get in the van!!!
Like the city that brought them together, Uncle Lucius is a gumbo, with hints of Americana and folk juxtaposed with a slow-cooked roux that is steeped in classic rock n roll and the blues. The resulting flavor is familiar and unique, roots at its most refined, albeit with a gutbucket foundation.

Just one performance left for Ragtown production
The final performance of "Fire Drill in Nashville" at the Ragtown Gospel Theater in Post will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Ragtown Gospel Theater in Post.
The world-famous televangelist, Reverend Joey Hallelujah, has famously labeled country music “high fidelity infidelity.” You can only imagine what happens when he brings his Coast to Coast Holy Ghost Revival Crusade to Nashville Tennessee, and confronts an aspiring country music singer who happens to be his own son, Shout Hallelujah. And that’s only the beginning of Joey’s conundrum.
This is a show filled with laughter and an uplifting message of love and approval in Christ. The whole family will enjoy this fast-moving fun-filled play. Rocker Cooper coming to Buddy Holly Hall
Classic rocker Alice Cooper brings his Too Close for Comfort tour to the Helen Devitt Jones Theater of Buddy Holly Hall at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20.
Cooper brings his own brand of rock psychodrama to fans both old and new, enjoying it as much as his audiences. Cooper pioneered a grandly theatrical brand of hard rock that was designed to shock.
Drawing equally from horror movies, vaudeville and garage rock, the group created a stage show that featured electric chairs, guillotines, fake blood and boa constrictors. Cooper was discovered in 1969 by Frank Zappa in Los Angeles, where he signed them to his record label.
Some of Cooper's hits include "Schools Out", "No More Mr. Nice Guy" and "Poison".

Jelly Roll coming to USA

Jason Bradley DeFord, known professionally as Jelly Roll, is an American singer, rapper, and songwriter known for his collaborations with Lil Wyte, Struggle Jennings, and Tech N9ne In 2023, he won three CMT Music Awards for the song "Son of a Sinner".
Before his transition into country music with 2023's Whitsitt Chapel album, Jelly Roll launched his career in hip hop.

LSO pays tribute to Queen of Soul

Boland and the Stragglers hit Cactus stage
Jason Boland and the Stragglers bring their Fall 2023 tour to the Cactus Theater at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7.
For the past 20 years, Jason Boland & the Stragglers have dazzled audiences all over as one of the leading ambassadors of the Oklahoma and Texas music movement. Spider Man concert comes to Holly Hall
Spider Man: Into the Spider-verse live in concert will be at the Helen Devitt Jones Theater of Buddy Holly Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 8.
This is a whole new way to experience the box office hit "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse."
The Academy Award-winning film from Sony Pictures Animation will be accompanied by a live orchestra, band and turntables with a scratch DJ playing music from the score and soundtrack.
Joining the tour is The Broadway Sinfonietta, an all-women and majority women-of-color orchestra.

Tesh brings Big Band Live to Cactus
John Tesh brings his Big Band Live tour to the Cactus Theater at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9.
Over the course of 50 recordings and numerous popular PBS specials spread over a quarter-century, Tesh has never failed to inspire masses of fans with his always-evolving musical muses.
Launching with his Emmy-winning, synth-driven sports music, he conquered the emerging smooth jazz genre in the ’90s with his saxophone series and later became a force in the CCM/Worship world with best-selling recordings that found inventive musical ways to share his deep faith.

Koy brings comedy to Holly Hall
Comedian Jo Koy brings his world tour to the Helen Devitt Jones Theater of Buddy Holly Hall at 7:3o p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17.
As one of today’s premiere stand-up comedians, Koy has come a long way from his modest beginnings performing in a Las Vegas coffee house. Jo’s uniquely relatable comedy pulls inspiration from his colorful family that has reached all kinds of people and has translated into sold-out arenas around the world.
Koy recently starred in the Universal Picture film "Easter Sunday", set around a family gathering to celebrate Easter Sunday, the comedy is based on Jo Koy’s life experiences and stand-up comedy. He also was featured in his recent Netflix special, Jo Koy: Live From The Los Angeles Forum.

Sun Valley Station to perform at Blue Light
Sun Valley Station will be playing at the Blue Light in Lubbock on Thursday, Sept. 21. The duo just released their new single/video "Cigarettes" and Americana Highways premiered it, and the video already has 106,000 views on Facebook.
Sun Valley Station may be a newly formed band, but the two main components, frontman Jeff Hobbs and bassist Lucas Copeland, have been playing music together for more than 20 years.
The band's debut double album "DANO" is a 22-song collection as epic as the long journey it took to come into creation. The name represents the long process in which this album was created being recorded over a 10-year span and at four different locations: Denton, and Ardmore, Norman and Oklahoma City.
LSO presents 'Rhapsodies'

The Beach Boys coming to Holly Hall
As The Beach Boys mark more than a half century of making music, the group continues to ride the crest of a wave unequalled in America’s musical history.
The group is set to perform at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, in the Helen Devitt Jones Theater of Buddy Holly Hall.
The Beach Boys have sold more than 100 million records worldwide and have received more than 33 RIAA Platinum and Gold record awards.

Flatlands Dance presents 'Book Club'
Flatlands Dance Theatre presents "Book Club" at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 5 and 7 in the Firehouse Theatre of the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts, 511 Ave. K.
Flatlands Dance Theatre’s 15th season of professional contemporary dance invites audiences to Book Club, a one-of-a-kind event combining dance and literature. FDT will premiere five original dance works created around central themes including: personal reading and writing practices, literary genres, banned books, library and bookshop spaces, beloved characters, and famous literary quotes.

Wetzel adds Lubbock stop to tour
Genre-bending artist Koe Wetzel has added fall dates to his Road to Hell Paso North American headline tour including a stop at United Supermarkets Arena at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 7.
Presented by Monster Energy, the newly announced 22-date run kicked off July 28 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, with stops in Baton Rouge, Indianapolis, San Antonio, and more. The tour will conclude with shows in Lubbock and El Paso, both of which have inspired a couple of Koe’s song and album titles.
Koe will be supported by Wade Bowan and Tanner Ursey.
