Who should be the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal's Athlete of the Week?

Fall sports are winding down while the winter season is heating up as athletes from football, volleyball and basketball turned in stellar performances last week and are are among the finalists for Lone Star Varsity Athlete of the Week.

Coaches can nominate student-athletes in all varsity sports by sending an email by noon Sunday to sports@lubbockonline.com. Please include: name, grade, pertinent stats and use the subject head: "Athlete of the Week nomination" to ensure it's seen.

The poll opens Monday morning and will close at noon Thursday, with the winners announced Friday each week.

Female athletes

Addisyn Bollinger, Fr., Frenship — Was named MVP after leading Frenship to the Hub City Tip Off tournament title.

Ellis Fox, Sr., Lubbock High — Set school and city records in the 200 freestyle (1:50.21) in the TISCA Lonestar Classic.

Bella Stevens, Sr., Klondike — Totaled 14 kills, three blocks and seven digs in the Class 1A state volleyball semifinals.

Male athletes

Ethan Brown, Sr., New Deal — Caught seven passes for for 110 yards and two touchdowns and was 2-of-2 passing for 30 yards and a score against Forsan.

Blake Flowers, Sr., Seminole — Accounted for six touchdowns against Godley, throwing for 369 yards and three scores and adding 59 yards and three TDs on the ground.

William Wall, Sr., Idalou — Ran for 127 yards and two TDs on 14 attempts and added an interception and four tackles on defense.
