DALLAS – The NCAA has been crowning women's basketball champions for 41 years and only 15 schools have claimed the top prize in the sports' history.

After the NCAA national championship game between LSU women's basketball and Iowa, there'll be a first-time national champion.

The Tigers (33-2) and Hawkeyes (31-6) meet inside American Airlines Center on Sunday afternoon (2:30 p.m., ABC).

LSU coach Kim Mulkey will have the dubious task of scheming up her team's defense to try and stop Iowa star Caitlin Clark, who scored 41 points on South Carolina in the Final Foul contest.

The Hawkeyes will have to contend with LSU sophomore star Angel Reese, who has averaged 22 points and 17 rebounds per game during March Madness. Her and senior point guard Alexis Morris have been the catalyst for the Tigers' improbable run to the national title game.
