Who is LSU football's interim coach? 5 things to know about Brad Davis

Departing LSU football coach Ed Orgeron will not coach in the Tigers' bowl game, the school announced Saturday. In his place, offensive line coach Brad Davis will serve as the Tigers' interim coach.

Baton Rouge native

Davis is from Baton Rouge, graduating from Belaire High School in 1999. He will be the fourth Louisiana native to coach at LSU, and the first Baton Rouge native to do so.

Playing experience

Coming out of high school, Davis signed with Oklahoma to play college football. He was a member of two Big 12 Championship teams and the 2000 national championship team. He was also named the Sooners' most valuable offensive lineman as a senior in 2002.

College coaching experience

After graduating from Oklahoma in 2003, Davis has served as an assistant coach at 13 schools, most recently in the SEC. In 2017, he was named offensive line coach at Florida. From 2018-19, he was offensive line coach at Missouri, and in 2020 he was offensive line coach at Arkansas, before joining LSU this season.

NFL experience

Davis spent two seasons as a part of the NFL internship program. He spent 2011 with the Jacksonville Jaguars under then-coach Jack Del Rio, and 2012 with the Seattle Seahawks under Pete Carroll.

Not that Brad Davis

In 1973, LSU had a running back also named Brad Davis rush for 904 yards. That Brad Davis was named first-team All-SEC and playes two seasons for the Atlanta Falcons. However, there is no relation between Brad Davis the running back and Brad Davis the coach.
