Lovely Runner Episode 9 Recap & Spoilers: Kim Hye Yoon Time Travels To Past for the Final Time

Episode 9 of Lovely Runner aired on tvN and Viki on Monday, May 6, 2024. In the new episode, the audience sees Im Sol (Kim Hye Yoon) finding a way to return to the past. It is the third and final time she time-travels to the past. This time, she is determined to change the incidents for good so that Ryu Sun Jae’s (Byeon Woo Seok) life does not get into danger in the future.

Lovely Runner episode 9 also sees Im Sol meeting Kim Tae Sung (Song Geon Hee) after she returns to the past. It turns out his life has changed for the better. The episode also shows the police thoroughly investigating the vicious taxi driver’s case and looking for him. A big highlight of the episode is Im Sol and Ryu Sun Jae going on their university MT field trip. While there, a particular moment makes Sun Jae wonder if Im Sol has come from the future.

Lovely Runner Episode 9: Kim Hye Yoon time travels to past for the final time to protect Byeon Woo Seok

Episode 9 of Lovely Runner begins right where the previous episode ends. Ryu Sun Jae (Byeon Woo Seok) gets severely injured and is in the hospital undergoing serious surgery. Meanwhile, Im Sol (Kim Hye Yoon) is frantically trying to find Sun Jae’s old watch so that she can return to the past for the third and final time. As this is the final time travel, Sol has to change the past for good and change it in such a way that will keep Sun Jae safe and sound even in the future.

After searching for quite some time, Im Sol finally finds the watch on her grandmother’s wrist. She takes it and returns to the past when she was a university freshman. Somehow, she lands on a statue and falls from there. But Sun Jae appears at the correct time to catch and save her. However, Sol tries her best to avoid Sun Jae, as she blames herself for his tragic accident in the future. She then rushes to the police station to inform them about the criminal taxi driver and his whereabouts. Sol helps the police start a thorough investigation into the heinous culprit.

Later in Lovely Runner episode 9, Sol meets Kim Tae Sung (Song Geon Hee) after a long time. He addresses her as his ex-girlfriend. The two catch up, and Sol finds out that Tae Sung has turned around his life for the better. He has successfully graduated and even owns his own business. She is quite happy for him. During their brief meeting, their bags get exchanged.

Then, viewers see both Sol and Sun Jae going on their university field trip, which takes place near the woods, and Sol gets into all kinds of trouble. Towards the end of the episode, while on the trip, Sol becomes extremely drunk. In that state, she emotionally breaks down in front of Ryu Sun Jae. Sol asks him again to stop liking her and only think about himself. She also blurs out that she can not see terrible things happen to Sun Jae because of her. It makes Sun Jae question things. He then gives Sol a piggyback ride.

At the end of episode 9 of Lovely Runner, Sun Jae asks his friend, Baek In Hyuk, if he has shown the song he has written for Sol to anyone else. However, Baek In Hyuk says he is the only person who knows about the song. Then, the episode displays a flashback moment from the previous night when Sun Jae is giving Sol the piggyback ride. At that time, Sol starts humming the song Sun Jae has written for her, as she knows the song from the future. She also blurts out how she has to return to the future. It makes Sun Jae wonder if she has really come from the future. The episode ends with Sun Jae confronting Sol about it.

After the episode ends, the K-drama treats viewers to a heartwarming epilogue scene where Sun Jae is trying to get Sol on his back. At that moment, the two accidentally end up sharing a kiss.
