Lovely Runner Episode 13 Recap & Spoilers: Is Byeon Woo Seok Alive in Future?

Episode 13 of Lovely Runner aired on tvN on Monday, May 20, 2024. In the new episode, viewers see Ryu Sun Jae (Byeon Woo Seok) celebrating Im Sol’s (Kim Hye Yoon) birthday. The two seem to cherish every moment of their time together in the past. However, their happiness does not last long as the criminal, Kim Young Soo, follows Im Sol to Danpo-Ri.

In a heartbreaking moment in Lovely Runner episode 13, the audience sees Kim Young Soo fatally stabbing Ryu Sun Jae, who then falls into the sea and passes away. However, the biggest highlight of the episode is Ryu Sun Jae being alive in the future. This happens as Im Sol successfully changes past events after Sun Jae’s demise. As a result, the future also changes. At the end of the episode, Im Sol accidentally reunites with Ryu Sun Jae.

Lovely Runner Episode 13: Byeon Woo Seok is alive as the future has changed

Episode 13 of Lovely Runner begins with the emotional moment that takes place at the end of episode 12. Im Sol (Kim Hye Yoon) pretends she has returned to the future, only to stay back in Danpo-Ri alone. She knows Kim Young Soo will arrive there to attack her; thus, she wants to protect Ryu Sun Jae (Byeon Woo Seok) at any cost.

Viewers also see a heartwarming flashback scene where Im Sol and Ryu Sun Jae go to an amusement park to celebrate Sol’s birthday. Sun Jae even brings a birthday cake and a special gift for Sol. She is touched by all of it, and the two share a heartfelt kiss on a ride at the amusement park.

After that, Lovely Runner episode 13 returns to the present moment, where Im Sol is alone in Danpo-Ri. However, after Sun Jae arrives in Seoul, he learns from Sol’s mother that she has not returned home. Soon, he realizes that she has pretended to have returned to the future to keep him safe. Thus, Sun Jae does not waste any time and rushes to Danpo-Ri to save Im Sol from the heinous murderer, Kim Young Soo.

Meanwhile, in Danpo-Ri, Sol calls the police detective to come there and save her. She knows the exact time and events that will happen in Danpo-Ri. Thus, Sol lures Kim Young Soo to attack her while the detectives watch from a distance. However, Ryu Sun Jae arrives there and comes face-to-face with the murderer before he can attack Sol. The two get engaged in a physical fight, and Kim Young Soo ends up stabbing Sun Jae. The police then arrested Kim Young Soo. However, it’s too late, and Sun Jae falls into the deep sea. At that moment, Im Sol breaks down in tears.

Then, episode 13 of Lovely Runner shows that Im Sol has returned to the future. Now, she works as a film producer, and despite the heartbreak, she continues to live her life. At work, Sol gets into trouble with an actor, which makes her boss furious. She even has to visit the police station due to the incident. There, she meets Kim Tae Sung (Song Geon Hee) again. He is now a police officer, like his father. The two have drinks together, and Sol gets quite drunk. She even cries for Ryu Sun Jae in front of Tae Sung.

The next day, at the office, Sol’s boss apologizes for her rude behavior. She has found out that it was the actor’s fault, and thus, she has decided not to work with him. The boss even asks Sol to re-submit her script, as she wants to turn it into a project. Sol is ecstatic. However, when she hands over some files to her boss, she sees a red envelope among them. Initially, she does not remember what it is but soon realizes it is a letter she wrote while drunk. Thus, she goes to take the envelope from her boss, who has put it inside her purse.

At the end of Lovely Runner episode 13, Sol follows her boss to a prestigious award show to get the red envelope back. She somehow manages to get it and runs away from there. While going down the stairs, she accidentally crashes into a man in a black suit. To her utter surprise, it is none other than Ryu Sun Jae. He is alive, and the two reunite in the future.

Then, the episode ends with a flashback scene where Sol presses the button on Sun Jae’s watch after his demise. She also ensures she does not meet Sun Jae in the past on that rainy day. It is the day Sun Jae sees Sol for the first time and falls for her. Thus, by avoiding the event, Sol changes the past completely, thereby changing the future.
