The Love List, Highlighting Top Unproduced Romance TV Pilots & Screenplays, Launches With Call For Submissions

EXCLUSIVE: Writer Lindsay Grossman and TV development executive Madison Jones have launched a new list of the best unproduced romance TV pilots and screenplays, calling it The Love List. They expect to make it an annual event.

The two are running the list the same way The Black List started, using the recommendations of studio and production company execs. If you’ve read a great romance-centered pilot or screenplay and you’re a studio or production company exec, you can email your submissions for consideration via lovelistsubmissions@gmail.com before January 31 at midnight PT.

Grossman and Jones met in 2020 and bonded over their mutual love for romance stories both in book form and on the screen. They were eager to see more romance make its way to film and television.

“Romance keeps the lights on in publishing, but the genre remains undervalued in the entertainment industry,” Grossman told Deadline in an exclusive statement. “Annual script lists like this tend to favor darker fare, so we saw this as a niche that could, and should, be filled. Moreover, we’d love to see romance projects gain respect in the business and be seen for what they are: big money-making stories.”

Jones added, “We’re really thrilled, not just to read inventive entries for the genre, but to discover fresh talent too. Romance is a really exciting space right now.”

Grossman is a romance/YA writer, a 2023 Disney fellowship semifinalist and a 2020 Women in Film mentee. Growing up 98.8% Jewish (according to her 23&Me) in a small suburb of Sacramento and with romance novels and The WB network’s slate as her adolescent guidebook, her sentimental and eccentric POV is crucial to the one-hour dramedies and romance novels she writes about ride-or-die female friendships, her Jewish heritage and love in all its forms.

Jones is currently Director of Development at Will Gluck’s production company Olive Bridge Entertainment. She joined Olive Bridge in 2017, where she assisted the Heads of Television and Film, working on the company’s Peter Rabbit films as well as the Hulu series Woke and the unscripted series Encore! for Disney+. She was later promoted to coordinator on the TV side where she worked on Chicago Party Aunt and Sneakerheads for Netflix, the docuseries Among the Stars for Disney+, as well as the second season of Woke.

In 2021, Jones rose to Director of Development and currently is overseeing multiple projects. She came to Olive Bridge from United Talent Agency, where she worked in the Branding, Endorsements, and Voiceover department.
