Michael Owen's daughter Gemma is one of this year's Love Island contestants, and as she's admitted to inheriting her dad's competitive streak, she could well be in with a chance of winning.

Dressage rider and swimwear company owner Gemma, 19, is also the current joint bookies' favourite to win the series with William Hill giving odds of 11/4.

Welsh masters student Liam Llewellyn has been given the same odds, suggesting that they're expected to couple up when the show launches on ITV2 on Monday 6 June.

Talking about her approach to the show and to competition, Gemma said: "Sport has always been a big thing for me and my family. My dad was a professional football player.

"I’ve competed for Great Britain in dressage since I was 11 years old. I’ve travelled all across Europe competing in big arenas in big competitions. I would say I’m very competitive."

She added of her attitude to relationships: "I will always go for what I want. But at the same time, I’m not going to mess up something for someone who is in a proper relationship or get in the way of a couple if they have a genuine connection.

"I wouldn’t do anything to another girl that I wouldn’t be happy with them doing to me."

Gemma might not be the only famous offspring to be a part of this year's series as Ronan Keating's daughter Missy, 21, is also rumoured to be taking part.

She was not announced as part of the starting line-up, but she could enter later in the series as a bombshell contestant.

Asked about the rumours by Good Morning Britain recently, Keating said: "I haven't heard anything but you never know, these kids are busy.

"All my kids, they're all busy doing different things. I haven't heard anything myself at the moment."

EastEnders star Danny Dyer's daughter Dani previously won the fourth series of Love Island with now-ex Jack Fincham.

Love Island launches on ITV2 on June 6 at 9pm.
