Good job, Phoenix? There are only 2 better cities for this completely freaking random game

If you’re really into cornhole, and you find yourself in Phoenix? You are living large, my friend.

According to a recent study by Lawnstarter.com, only two major U.S. cities have more to offer fans of casual or competitive cornhole games than Phoenix does. Those are Houston and San Diego, which it could be argued also has the edge on Phoenix when it comes to weather that would make a person want to be outside tossing a beanbag around.

The study was done to coincide with the 2023 American Cornhole Organization World Championships, July 24-29 in Owensboro, Kentucky, and the American Cornhole League World championships, July 29-Aug. 6 in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

The mowing website compared the 200 biggest U.S. cities across three categories (access, community and popularity) and 10 metrics, from access to cornhole venues to park and yard space, clubs and tournaments.

How Phoenix was named the 3rd-best US city for cornhole

Phoenix topped the community category while finishing 18th in access and 24th in popularity.

The key metrics that determined placement in the community category were whether the city has a professional American Cornhole League Team, the number of citywide cornhole clubs and the number of American Cornhole League directors.

Phoenix tied with San Diego for the city with the most American Cornhole League directors.

The access category was determined by the number of cornhole venues (Phoenix finished eighth), share of land used for parks and recreation and average yard square footage.

The popularity category was based on the number of American Cornhole League events, number of American Cornhole Organization events, number of cornhole tournaments in the past year and average monthly Google searches for top cornhole-related keywords in the past year.

Phoenix finished 12th in the cornhole Google search race.
