“Love Is Blind”'s Jimmy reveals he told Chelsea he didn't want to get married days before the breakup

When Jimmy Presnell told his fiancée Chelsea Blackwell he didn't want to go to the altar in the Love Is Blind season 6 finale, she seemed to be extremely shocked. Even after he explained why he came to that decision, she tried to convince him that they could work things out, but he was set on not getting married and she left their final date in tears.

But Jimmy tells EW that he had actually warned Chelsea that he didn't want to get married days earlier, and that conversation just wasn't caught on camera. "I wanted to tell her the moment I made a decision," Jimmy reveals. "I actually told her several days prior that if we were to go to the altar, it would be a no. We were five, maybe seven, days away from the wedding and I told her, 'I love you, but if we were to have to say this timeline works and we got to go to the altar right now, it's a no.' That's just me being open and honest with her."

As for how she reacted in that moment? "She didn't take it too well," Jimmy says. "I told her my promise to her would be to take it day by day. Another couple of days go by and I started to feel a lot of pressure on all of her friends and family flying in. A lot of her people were not local, it was a weekday wedding. At that point, I loved her and I owed it to her and her family to be upfront and honest with her. I didn't feel taking her to the altar — she'd been married before — was the appropriate thing to do."

While Jimmy and Chelsea's many issues were shown onscreen all season, he says there was one specific thing that he just couldn't get over. "The moment I realized things weren't going to work with Chelsea and I was just around trust," he adds. "I mean, earlier in the pods, she already broke my trust when I told her not to go tell anybody that we've announced we loved each other. She broke my trust there, I forgave her for it, and she was still amazing to me off camera. But once we got towards the end, I've got a couple days to make a big decision and I'm sitting here thinking, 'I want her to know every inch of me. I want her to know every part of who I am.' And I told her some things in confidence and she aired me out on them. I'm not cool with that."

The conversation Jimmy had with Chelsea off camera about his past relationship with one of his close female friends was never supposed to be mentioned on camera, but Chelsea brought it up during one of their fights during filming. "That was the moment," Jimmy confirms. "It was the trust. I can't marry someone in that period of time when I felt like they betrayed me on one huge piece of something I did not want to talk about."

While he doesn't regret breaking up before the finale weddings, he does feel bad that he broke Chelsea's heart during their last date. "She was so hopeful," he remembers. "I mean, I can look at Chelsea in the eyes and tell that she loved me and that she wanted a life with me and she would've done whatever. But at the same time, I was really pissed off about what she aired me out on. That didn't mean I didn't love her."
