“Love Is Blind”'s Brittany and Kenneth say they are just 'best friends' today

"Even today, I still consider Brittany my person," Kenneth tells EW.

With one simple TikTok video, Love Is Blind season 6 cast members Brittany Mills and Kenneth Gorham had fans in shock leading up to the reunion. While the couple broke up halfway through the season and didn't make it to the finale weddings, their reunion in the cryptic social media video had people wondering if they secretly got back together after filming ended.

But Kenneth and Brittany reveal to EW that they're just "best friends" today and are not in a romantic relationship. "Brittany and I, we took some time apart from each other," Kenneth says. "We were still able to communicate with one another, but we were very respectful of each other's process. And I think I needed that more than anyone because it really took a toll on me because I didn't expect it. I thought I was going to go all the way with her because I was so confident that she was my person."

After their break, Kenneth was happy they could still be friends. "When we came back from it, we were able to say, 'Yo, this happened. The connection that we have, no one can take that away. We're super strong with each other,'" he says. "Now that things have calmed down, we're able to focus on learning each other deeper. We're so close."

Brittany adds that they promised one another they were going to stay close. "We decided the night of our breakup to remain friends," she says. "He was able to come to my birthday dinner, and then I went to his. We're definitely still ensuring that we stay in contact with one another, so it's been good. It's very special because I couldn't necessarily imagine not staying in contact with someone who was so mature, and offered a safe place for both the experience and how we ended as well. We know so much about one another, and so I think it's beautiful that we were able to stay in contact."

Kenneth adds that he still thinks of Brittany as his "person" even though they're not in a relationship. "She's someone that, when I get good news, I'm calling Brittany; I'm having a moment of frustration, I'm calling Brittany; or if I just want to laugh," he says. "Today I was getting some food from Bojangles, and when I walked inside, one of the songs [playing] was Brittany's favorite song that she played for me in the pod by Leon Bridges, and I called her immediately. It's just little stuff like that that she and I still experience. And we have each other's back — that's big."

While they haven't taken things back to a romantic level, Kenneth isn't ruling anything out in the future. "I don't know — I'm a person of faith, so God leads me and I just follow," he says. "Is the connection that me and Brittany have still super strong? Yes. I still think she's beautiful. I still think she's super dope and intelligent. I still get moments like, 'Wow, you are still my person, and the same [goes] for her. Only time will tell. Time will tell us what God has in store for that."

As for Brittany, she's currently single and loving it. "Happily single, and I am not dating," she says. "I want to be in this moment because we're still going through the experience, and there's so much to it. I don't want any distractions. That's where my headspace is at right now. Honestly, coming back from the show, I was like, 'Yeah, I'm going to be single for a little bit.'"
