After receiving four enthusiastic "yes" votes earlier this summer from the celebrity judges on "America's Got Talent," 11-year-old D'Corey Johnson of Louisville is ready to take the stage again on the popular television show during a live episode on Tuesday, Sept 12.

The former Bates Elementary student, who is now home-schooled as he pursues a career in entertainment, spent the past week in Los Angeles rehearsing for his next shot in the national spotlight. The results of the week's competition of AGT's Season 18 will air the following evening on Wednesday, Sept. 20.

"I'm overwhelmed because I have always wanted to be on this, so I am glad I got a yes," Johnson said.

Johnson, who likes to be called "DC,” is no stranger to performing in front of large crowds. He told the Courier Journal his success began in 2021 when a video of him singing the national anthem at his school went viral.

Soon he was appearing on television shows like "Inside Edition," "NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt," "Today with Hoda & Jenna," "Fox & Friends" and "ABC World News Tonight with David Muir." He has also performed at sporting events such as the Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Reds, Churchill Downs, Louisville Bats, the Daytona 500, and The Patriot Awards, where he was the kid correspondent for Fox News. Prior to taking on "America's Got Talent," Johnson sang and danced on tour with "Hits! The Musical," a national touring show produced by superstar Dionne Warwick.

With all of that, he says one day he'd like to become an EGOT recipient, winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award, something only 18 people have done in history.

Over the summer, the busy young entertainer was in Louisville to sing the national anthem during the Fourth of July celebration at Waterfront Park prior to the Louisville Orchestra's concert and the traditional fireworks display.
