Louisville Orchestra and fiddler Michael Cleveland play The Corbin Arena

Mar. 1—CORBIN — The Louisville Orchestra and acclaimed fiddler Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper performed at the Corbin Arena on Tuesday.

The show was free for those who wished to attend and featured many classics as well as two world premieres.

The Louisville Orchestra has been conducting their "In Harmony" Tour since 2022. Their show in Corbin denoted the first show of the last leg of the tour.

Two compositions, both by composers working for the Louisville Orchestra, were performed in front of an audience for the first time at Tuesday's show.

The first composition to premiere was Tanner Porter's Back At It, which featured a variety of meters and tempos to provide the audience with a thrilling selection of string instruments.

The second world premiere belonged to composer Alex Berko and his composition Unstrung. The piece provided the audience with a deconstructed version of bluegrass which paid homage to the nature of Kentucky's staple music.

The orchestra also played selections from the renowned opera Carmen, which featured many classics that most would recognize, including Habanera and {em}Danse Boheme.

To conclude the evening, fiddler Michael Cleveland and his band Flamekeeper played a selection of bluegrass songs.

The last song, "Orange Blossom Special," was particularly riveting and heavily focused on Cleveland's virtuoso playing of the fiddle.

Cleveland was born blind and partially deaf, adding to the spectacle of his excellent playing.
