Louisiana-themed music and food festival taking over downtown San Diego Mother’s Day weekend

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Spanish Landing Park is getting ready transform for four days of Louisiana-themed live music, food, dancing and fun.

Gator by the Bay is bringing zydeco, blues, Cajun, rockabilly, swing, salsa and New Orleans Jazz to San Diego.

Gator By The Bay, the largest, most-authentic Louisiana-themed music and food festival this side of the bayou, is taking place Mother’s Day weekend, May 9-12, at Spanish Landing Park along San Diego Bay in downtown.

The four-day event is family-friendly. Single day and multi-day passes are available online. Kids 17 and under can get in free with a paid adult.

Over 100 musical acts and special performances will take place across seven stages, with lots of Creole & Cajun food, including 10,000 pounds of live crawfish trucked in from Louisiana, along with non-stop live music, dancing and family fun. There will even be a marketplace, dance lessons, workshops and Taste of Louisiana cooking demos.

In addition to the lineup of musicians, several 2024 San Diego Music Award winners will be performing, including Song of the Year winner – Kimmi Bitter, “Aquamarine” ; Best Video winner – Berkley Hart “Faded Tattoo” (Jeff Berkley) ; Best Jazz Artist winner – Mercedes Moore ; Best Jazz or Blues Album winner – Shane Hall “Howl & Sway” ; and Best Blues Artist winner – Anthony Cullins.

For those who want to keep the party going Saturday night, they can join the Dance Afterparty at the Sheraton Bay Tower from 9 p.m. to midnight on May 11.
