Louis Tomlinson slams interviewer for asking him about grief following deaths of his mom and sister

Singer Louis Tomlinson has criticized a British TV host for asking him "about his grief" following the deaths of his mother and sister during an interview about his new album, and declared he would never go on the show again.

The former One Direction member, whose mother Johannah died of leukemia in 2016, followed by sister Félicité’s death from an accidental overdose last year, claimed BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker had "continued" to probe him on the “painful” subject.

After Tomlinson tweeted that he wouldn’t “be going on there again,” Walker asked what had “upset” the British pop star.

"I was upset that you continued to ask me about my grief," the 28-year-old star responded. “It goes without saying how hard it is to lose both people so close to me. The least I ask is that you respect my decision of not wanting to be asked in interviews about something so painful."

He continued: "I'm lucky enough to have a creative outlet for me to talk about grief. This doesn't, however, give you the right to talk about it for gossip purposes."

Walker then explained that he’d brought up grief because they were discussing a song written about Tomlinson’s mom. He added that he had “no intention to upset you or be ‘gossipy’ about it at all.”

During the interview, reflecting on the songwriting process, Walker had asked Tomlinson: "Do you feel that at some stage, 'Oh I've put too much of myself in there?' or is that part of helping you in writing that way as well about the loss of your mum and your sister and other things?"

Tomlinson said that due to his beginnings on U.K. music reality competition The X Factor, he always “given a lot” of himself and that he had used it to his “advantage.”

Later in the BBC interview, Tomlinson told the hosts they were "going in" on him after co-host Louise Minchin asked about his rumored feud with former bandmate Zayn Malik.

"You're proper going in here today," Tomlinson remarked before Walker replied, "Louis, you know people will be interested."

Tomlinson retorted: "Yeah, but people pick up on every little thing I say. I'm just not ready to have that conversation and that's fair enough."

The father of one and Malik have shared a difficult relationship, with Tomlinson publicly declaring his annoyance when the “Pillowtalk” singer didn't show up to a performance by Tomlinson on The X Factor which took place days after his mother's death.

On the BBC show, Walker also asked Tomlinson about the potential of One Direction getting back together, to which the singer responded: "Trauma, Zayn and now we're finally on this [topic]."

Tomlinson had one last thing to say following his Twitter exchange with Walker: “Anyway f*** the negativity now,” he tweeted. “It's been a siiiiick week.”
