Louis C.K. Doesn’t Care If You Watch His New Show

On Wednesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, Louis C.K. promoted his new series Horace and Pete. This was a rare occasion because Louis has done almost nothing to promote the show aside from sending an email to his fans.

Louis hadn’t created a trailer or released any clips because he didn’t want to ruin any part of the surprise. He likened it to seeing a trailer for a film in which the entire plot is laid out, ruining the experience. He was also hesitant to take people’s money by convincing them that the show is something it’s not.

Though he said he likes to call his own shots, he now has to deal with fans who are unsure about purchasing the episodes. One potential viewer asked him to write an email explaining why he should buy the series. Louis promptly told the person where he could shove his five dollars.

Jimmy Kimmel Live airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on ABC.
