Los Angeles Dodgers Headed To The World Series, Beat Atlanta Braves 4-3
UPDATE: Slugger Cody Bellinger’s huge seventh-inning home run broke open a tie game and sent the Los Angeles Dodgers to the World Series, as they beat the Atlanta Braves 4-3 in a tense Game 7 of the National League Championship Series.
Reliever Julio Urias ran through the final nine outs to close out the win for the team. They now face the Tampa Bay Rays in the World Series in Arlington, Texas starting on Tuesday.
The Dodgers were the Comeback Kids in this series, once trailing 3 games to 1 and behind for the first five innings of Game 7.
Shortstop Corey Seager, who hit five home runs in the series (the Dodgers had a record 16 overall) was named the MVP of the NLCS.
EARLIER: There is no tomorrow for one team between the Los Angeles Dodgers or the Atlanta Braves, who meet tonight in a winner-take-all Game 7 in the National League Championship Series at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
The victor will meet the Tampa Bay Rays at the same stadium starting Tuesday. A limited number of fans have been allowed in to watch the games, but it will be a far cry from home field advantage for either team. The game is televised on Fox, with an anticipated 5:15 PM start.
The Dodgers will start 23-year-old pitcher Dustin May, who only threw two innings in Game 5. The Braves will counter with right-hander Ian Anderson. But expect both managers to empty their bullpens early and often, with even Dodgers ace starter Clayton Kershaw being trotted out if needed, despite having pitched Thursday.
The Dodgers have momentum, having won 3-1 on Saturday to even the series.
“We are not done,” Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner said to ESPN on Saturday. “We still got a lot to accomplish. We got a big one [Sunday]. We are going to get prepared and come in and fight for every pitch and find a way to win a ballgame.”
