UPDATE: Shohei Ohtani’s season is over. The Angels star will miss the remainder of the season with an oblique injury. Depending on what happens in his free agency, his career in Anaheim as one of the sport’s greatest players may be over.

EARLIER: Is this the end of Sho-time? The superstar’s locker has been mostly cleared out at Angel Stadium, and the team said Friday night it would explain why today.

More from Deadline

Ohtani is a free agent at the end of the season and can sign with other teams. He missed his 11th consecutive game with an oblique muscle injury Friday night, as the Angels fell to the Detroit Tigers, 11-2.  Ohtani was at the stadium before the game, but his locker was reported to be largely empty afterward.

ESPN reported a fully packed bag with a logo from the 2023 All-Star Game sat in front of his stall.

Ohtani has not revealed his future plans. He has a tear in his right elbow ligament that has prevented the two-way star from pitching. But the Angels hoped his oblique strain would heal in time for a few more games at the end of this season.

He is widely expected to be named the American League MVP this year.
