The Wall That Heals

A replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall will be visiting Caldwell Oct. 17 to 22. The Wall That Heals will be escorted into town by area bikers. The first 300 bikers in the escort will receive commemorative patches. The Wall will arrive in Caldwell after departing the Guernsey County Fairgrounds. It will travel Ohio 285 to Ohio 566 in Senecaville to Ohio 147 before traveling past both Caldwell and Shenandoah schools. Once assembled, the trailer it was housed in will be converted into a mobile education center and be located behind the administration building in Caldwell.

"It will have a hometown heroes section with the local service members who are memorialized on the actual wall. It will also house items left at the actual wall in Washington D. C., and the Gold Star Bike, a Softail Custom Harley, donated by the American Gold Star Mothers in 2012," according to a press release. Those wishing to visit the Wall can do so from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 19-22. Bikers who would like to participate in the caravan can call 740-581-2121 or email softtail9761@gmail.com.

Kevin Prater Band

Head to Guernsey County’s only opera house to hear some of the best bluegrass around. The Pennyroyal Opera House in Fairview presents the Kevin Prater Band at 7 p.m. Friday. The opening band for the evening will be the Muddy Krick Mountain Band. The kitchen and doors open at 5 p.m. The bluegrass show will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 at the door. Styx at Peoples Bank

Come sail away to the music of Styx on Tuesday at the People's Bank Theatre in Marietta. Ticket prices begin at $98. The group has been performing together for more than four decades and notably was the first group to score four triple-platinum albums in a row with The Grand Illusion, Pieces of Eight, Cornerstone and Paradise Theater. The show is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m., and tickets can be purchased by visiting https://peoplesbanktheatre.com. Peoples Bank Theatre is located at 222 Putnam St., Marietta.

Treats on the Trail

Explore the Great Guernsey Trail with your costumed kids and get some pre-Halloween candy. Hosted by the Guernsey County Community Development Corp. and sponsored by Main Screen Printing, children under the age of 14 can walk the trail and get treats from local businesses. A costume contest will take place along with a raffle. The event is scheduled to run from 2 to 4 p.m. and begins at the Lore City trailhead of the Great Guernsey Trail. Apple Butter Stirrin' Festival

Walk the brick-lined streets of Historic Roscoe Village and let the aroma of warm, fresh apple butter and hot cider overwhelm your senses. Guests can purchase fall décor and shop at the vendors' and artisans' booths. Try some fresh apple butter, warmed over an open fire along with other autumn staples. Experience the spooky side of the village during the Spirit of Roscoe tour or take a canal ride (dependent on water levels). Tickets can be purchased online for $5 or at the gate for $8, and parking is free. The event is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
