Looking for restaurants open for Christmas Eve or Christmas?

Unless you have a reservation already, it looks like holiday dining will be in short supply this year.

Christmas Eve is on a Saturday and it seems many restaurants surveyed are serving lunch only and closing early such as at 5 or 6 p.m. Or, they are already fully booked.

There are not a lot of choices for Christmas Day being on a Sunday this year. That's a day many restaurants are closed normally. With Monday being the legal holiday, no doubt restaurant owners are taking a short break for themselves and their staff before things heat up for New Year's Eve festivities.

If you want to secure a reservation, start calling your preferred restaurant today. If you can't go to your usual spots, I suggest you check with hotel restaurants, which are generally open on holidays. Casino restaurants also have holiday hours.

There are some takeout offers, too.

Angelo's Civita Farnese Restaurant, 141 Atwells Ave., Providence, (401) 621-8171, angelosri.com, will be open Christmas Eve 11:30 to 4 p.m. for dining in and tray pick-up. Orders must be placed for pick-up by Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Avvio Ristorante, 90 Hillside Rd., Cranston, (401) 942-2900, avvioristorante.com, serves at 4 p.m. on Christmas Day. 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Christmas Eve.

Bellini Providence, 50 Westminster St., Providence, (401) 331- 4050, bellinirestaurant.com/providence, will be open both Christmas Eve and Day for their regular hours at The Beatrice Hotel.

Besos Bistro, 378 Main St, East Greenwich, (401) 398-8855,  besoskitchenandcocktails.com, will be open normal hours Christmas Eve from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Boat House Waterfront Dining, 227 Schooner Drive, Tiverton, (401) 624-6300, will be open Christmas Eve from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Capital Grille, 10 Memorial Boulevard, (401) 521-5600, thecapitalgrille.com, is open for Christmas Eve for lunch and dinner.

Cara, at the Chanler on Cliff Walk, 117 Memorial Blvd., Newport,  (401) 847-2244, thechanler.com/cara-restaurant, has a Christmas Eve eight-course, chef-selected menu. There are two seatings — the first at 5 p.m. and the second at 8:30 p.m. On Christmas Day, the Chanler will have a traditional Christmas feast with a four-course fixed price dinner in The Café.

Casino Café & Grille, Bally's Tiverton Casino, 777 Tiverton Casino Blvd., Tiverton, (401) 816-6000, twinrivertiverton.com/casino-cafe-grille, will be open both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day from noon to 8 p.m.

Castle Hill Inn, 590 Ocean Ave., Newport, (401) 849-3800, hosts Christmas Eve dinner served for parties up to seven guests from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Christmas Day from noon to 8 p.m.

Chapel Grille, 3000 Chapel View Blvd., Cranston, (401) 944-4900, chapelgrilleri.com, will be open Christmas Eve from 2 to 9 p.m.

DeWolf Tavern, 259 Thames St., Bristol, (401) 254-2005, dewolftavern.com, will be open Christmas Eve from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Christmas Day 1 to 6:30 p.m.

Elizabeth of Portofino’s, 897 Post Rd., Warwick, (401) 461-8920, elizabethportofino.com, will be open Christmas Eve from 3-8 p.m.

Farmhouse Kitchen & Bar at Shelter Harbor Inn, 10 Wagner Rd, Westerly, (401) 322-8883, farmhousekitchenri.com, is open both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for dinner after 4 p.m.

Federal Taphouse, 279 Atwell's Ave., Providence, (401) 454-8881, federaltandk.com, is open for brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and for dinner from 2:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Finn's Harborside, 38 Water St., East Greenwich, (401) 884-6363, finnsharborside.com, will be open Christmas Eve from noon to 6 p.m.

Gilligan's Pub, 937 Chalkstone Ave., Providence, (401) 331-4260, on Facebook, has a new owner, Amanda Fullam, and she has full holiday hours. They are open Christmas Eve from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. On Christmas Day, their hours are 5 p.m. to midnight.

Hemenway’s, 121 South Main St., Providence, (401) 351-8570, hemenwaysrestaurant.com, will be open Christmas Eve noon to 8 p.m.

Iggy's Doughboys & Chowder House, 889 Oakland Beach Ave., Warwick, (401) 737-9459, iggysri.com, as well as Iggy’s Boardwalk next door, will both be open Christmas Eve until 4 p.m.

Il Massimo, 134 Atwells Ave., (401) 273-0650, massimori.com, will be open Christmas Eve.

Jerry Longo's Meatballs and Martinis, Bally's Twin River, 100 Twin River Rd., Lincoln, (401) 723-3200, twinriver.com/dining/jerry-longos, opens Christmas Day 4 to 9 p.m.

Legal Sea Foods, 175 Hillside Rd., at Garden City, Cranston, (401) 732-3663, will be open regular hours on Christmas Eve.

Ocean House restaurant Coast welcomes award-winning chef Gabriel Kreuther for dinners on Christmas Eve and Christmas featuring a seven-course menu from the owner of the New York City restaurant that bears his name. Trattoria Zooma, 245 Atwells Ave., Providence, (401) 383-2002, trattoriazoomari.com, will open Christmas Eve from noon to 9 p.m. They are offering three courses of La Vigilia through Christmas Eve for $55.

Twin Oaks, 100 Sabra St., Cranston, (401) 781-9693, twinoaksrest.com, is open their regular hours on Christmas Eve.

Trio, 15 Kingstown Rd, Narragansett, (401) 792-4333, trio-ri.com, will open Christmas Eve at noon.

Stoneacre Brasserie, 28 Washington Square, Newport, (401) 619-7810, is open Christmas Eve, starting with brunch. On Christmas Day, they have a special three course meal for $78, including Duck Confit with available times between 2 and 7 p.m. You can reserve online by clicking the event tab.

Shark's Peruvian Cuisine, 1420 Broad St., Central Falls, (401) 599-5038, sharksperuviancuisine.com, will open at noon on Christmas Eve and after 5 p.m. on Christmas Day. Call ahead.

Wicked Good Bar & Grill, Bally's Twin River, 100 Twin River Rd., Lincoln, twinriver.com/dining/wicked-good-bar-grill/, will be open noon to 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve and noon to 9 p.m. on Christmas Day.
