Looking for fun things to do this weekend on the Treasure Coast?
Elysia Brennan has you covered with her Top 5 weekend events for Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties for Sept. 1-3.
You could go to a skimboarding competition in Vero Beach, a food truck festival in Port St. Lucie, a Motown music event in Port St. Lucie, a roller-skating event in Fort Pierce or a shopping market featuring young entrepreneurs in Stuart.
Here’s your Five on Friday weekend update for the Treasure Coast.
INDIAN RIVER COUNTY
Mulligan’s Skim Jam
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday
Mulligan’s Beach House, 1025 Beachland Blvd., Vero Beach
The 16th annual skimboarding competition is the final stop of the Shore LB Triple Crown. Winners are announced later in the day at an awards ceremony at Walking Tree Brewery. Buy raffle tickets on the beach or at the brewery for a chance to win prizes from local businesses.
Free to watch; $50 registration for amateurs, $140 for professionals
ST. LUCIE COUNTY
Chow Down & Shop Around
5-9 p.m. Friday
Tradition Square, 10806 S.W. Meeting St., Port St. Lucie
Kick off the three-day weekend with a night of shopping, drinks, music and lots of dinner options with food trucks from across the Treasure Coast and South Florida. Bring lawn chairs.

The Essence of Motown Summer R&B Festival
3:30 p.m. Saturday (gates open 3 p.m.)
MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Event Center, 9221 S.E. Event Center Drive, Port St. Lucie
Music tributes include The Temptations, Four Tops, Aretha Franklin and Earth, Wind & Fire. It’s open outdoor seating. Chairs are available or bring your own. Enjoy food, a full bar and arts and crafts vendors.
$45 in advance online plus fees, $50 at the gate; free for kids younger than age 12 with purchase of adult ticket
SK8’N Back to School
2-6 p.m. Sunday
Lawnwood Stadium, 1302 Virginia Ave., Fort Pierce
Skate and enjoy music, food, vendors and prizes. Quad skates are included with admission, but you can bring your own pair of skates or rollerblades. Dress up in your favorite Disney character attire, including princesses and superheroes. Ages 12 and younger skate from 2-4 p.m., then ages 13 and older skate from 4-6 p.m.
$8 plus fees for ages 12 and younger, $10 plus fees for ages 13 and older
MARTIN COUNTY
Market on Main & Kids Market
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday
Flagler Park, 201 S.W. Flagler Ave., Stuart
Shop locally grown fruits, vegetables, plants, flowers, meats, breads, skincare items and crafts. There will be a special section dedicated to children younger than 15 who will be showcasing their entrepreneurial spirit.
