The fall season is here and while you won’t be rejoicing in a dramatic change in foliage, there are a lot of ways to welcome the change of season in South Florida. This is the when we get to venture outside without threat of heatstroke and enjoy festivals, greenmarkets and new entertainment seasons. This weekend promises pure terror, in a good way at the opening of Fright Nights, multiple tribute bands at the Rock n' Fall Festival, a relaxing, sunrise yoga session and more. Here are several fantastic options and even more great things to do in Palm Beach County.

In addition to the top five events listed there's always something great happening at places like The Norton Museum of Art or the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. On top of that you could always just enjoy a great meal with an equally great view at one of Palm Beach County's waterfront restaurants from Jupiter to Boca Raton. 1. Fright Nights at the South Florida Fairgrounds

Get the absolute bejesus scared out of you at this event that literally defines Halloween horror. Experience four different haunted houses featuring "scare actors" in full makeup and costume. There will also be "scare actors" roaming along the midway, several haunted vignettes, rides and plenty of food and drink.

2. Rock n' Fall Festival at Commons Park in Royal Palm Beach

This two-day event will feature live music, cold beer, craft vendors, delicious food, carnival games, bounce houses, train rides, a petting zoo, pumpkin carving and much more. On Saturday the Eagles tribute band The Long Run will perform at 6 p.m. followed by a KISS tribute. On Sunday, Joe Noto will play as well as the Bob Seger tribute band Beautiful Loser. Lawn chairs and blankets recommended.

3. 5th annual Barks and Brews at Downtown Palm Beach Gardens

Come along with your furry companion and enjoy a few beers from one of several local craft breweries, savor some delicious small bites, join the exciting raffle and enjoy live music by Jupiter’s finest, Ricky Young. All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the 600 dogs at Big Dog Ranch Rescue.

4. Delray Bed Race in downtown Delray Beach

The annual Delray Bed Race in downtown Delray Beach is back and will take place Saturday, Oct. 7. It will feature 16, five-person teams racing down SE Second Avenue for bragging rights and glory.

Reborn after a decade hiatus, Pineapple Grove's iconic bed racing is back and will feature 16 preregistered teams of five racing along SE Second Avenue in downtown Delray Beach. Presented by Delray Beach Concours Foundation.
