Though South Florida is known for its winter season, the region is made for summer fun too. Enjoy a cookout and skateboard contest at the National Croquet Center, see a piano performance during the Norton's Art After Dark, or stretch and strengthen during a yoga session at Grandview Public Market. Here are five fantastic options and even more great things to do in Palm Beach County.

In addition to the top five events listed there's always something great happening at places like The Norton Museum of Art or the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. 1. Enjoy the Bartle BBQ Hang Skateboarding event, and for a good cause

This skateboard and barbecue event will feature a halfpipe competition with prizes, a demonstration by skateboard pro Kai Canduba and a barbecue feast put out by Sandy James Catering. Held in honor of Cory Bartle, who lost is battle with addiction in 2022, this event will officially launch the Cory Bartle Memorial Fund. The Hanley Foundation will administer the fund, which will provide lifesaving scholarships for individuals battling substance abuse and help get them into an approved program quickly.

The inaugural Bartle BBQ Hang will be held Saturday, June 3 at Phipps Skate Park in West Palm Beach. The event, held in honor of Cory who lost his battle with addiction, will kick off Cory Bartle Memorial Fund. Donations will be administered by the Hanley Foundation and provide lifesaving scholarships for individuals with substance use disorders who would not otherwise be able to receive treatment.

The event is 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26. 700 Florida Mango Road, West Palm Beach. Age 31 and older $50, age 13 to 30 $35, 12 and under free. Information: hanleyfoundation.org/bbq

2. Get your cosplay on at Ultracon Comic Con in West Palm Beach

This three-day event will feature over 200 vendors selling art and toys, celebrity voice actors from top shows across the anime, animation and science fiction genres and a cosplay contest that will be held Saturday and Sunday with a top prize of $1,000. There will also be a Pokemon tournament. Former "CHiPs" actors Eric Estrada and Larry Wilcox are scheduled to make appearances.

4. Stretch and relax at free yoga at Grandview Public Market

5 Cox Science Center and Aquarium's Nights at the Museum

Happening on the last Friday of select months, this event lets guests of all ages enjoy extended hours at the center. Explore various interactive science crafts, activities, exhibits, planetarium shows, and a chance to view the night sky in Palm Beach County's only public observatory. Each Night at the Museum is a different theme and this Friday's theme is "Ocean Commotion."
