Disappointed about the cancellation of Desert Daze at Lake Perris this year? Good news, there's another opportunity at the beach venue to get your fall festival fix.

Even though the Same Same But Different festival on Sept. 28 to Oct. 1 features electronic music in lieu of the rock 'n' roll of Desert Daze, it does have art installations, interactive experiences such as yoga, sound baths and wellness workshops, as well as a mixture of food vendors.

The San Diego-based promoter behind the festival, which is not connected to Desert Daze, has been doing the event at Lake Perris since 2018 and took a two-year hiatus during the pandemic.

Here is what you need to know about Same Same But Different.

Where is Lake Perris?

The drive to Lake Perris State Recreation Area is an hour from Palm Springs, 40 minutes from Riverside, just over an hour from Los Angeles (depending on traffic) and 90 minutes from San Diego — making it an easy trip for all Southern California locals.

Lake Perris features a beach, recreation areas, paved parking lots, boating, hiking and more. The setting provides a more laid-back atmosphere among attendees compared to other festivals. There's panoramic views of the mountains, a beach, plenty of trees providing shade, grass to lay a blanket and lustrous sunsets in the evening.

Sounds great, who's playing?

Headliners for this year's event are electronic music producer and composer Big Wild , DJs Louis the Child and French house music duo Polo & Pan. Other artists scheduled to appear are Megan Hamilton, SaveJ, Mystic Grizzly and more. A full lineup is available at ssbdfest.com.
