Look up, Oshkosh! EAA AirVenture is back July 24-30. Here's what to know if you go.

OSHKOSH - EAA AirVenture returns to the skies above Oshkosh this week.

Running July 24-30 at Wittman Regional Airport, 525 W. 20th Ave., Oshkosh, the annual aviation event — now in its 70th year — draws more than 500,000 people from around the world to the AirVenture grounds.

A variety of rare and iconic warbirds are expected at this year’s event, including Corsairs and Vietnam War-era aircraft.

Veterans will be honored July 28. The Salute to Veterans Day includes breakfast, parade, and an honor flight with Northeast Wisconsin’s Old Glory Honor Flight organization.

Admission

Tickets can be purchased for the entire week or daily. There are optional add-ons such as parking, camping and flight experiences. Youth 18 and younger are admitted free.

Daily tickets are $43 for adult members or $61 for adult non-members; $43 for veterans and active military and their families; and free for kids 18 and younger.

Daily air shows

The air shows feature a variety of performances including aerobatics, military, and rare and unique flying machines. Day shows begin at 2:15 p.m. Night shows will start at 8 p.m. July 26 and 29 and also feature a fireworks show.

Avoiding traffic and parking: Avoid EAA AirVenture Oshkosh traffic, parking with roundtrip bus rides from UWO campus or downtown

Forums, workshops and demonstrations

Hear from combat pilots, aircraft designers, astronauts, and other aviation-related speakers. There are workshops and demonstrations to take part in as well. All are included with admission.

Shopping and food

Shops on the grounds offer a variety of merchandise including EAA memorabilia. Items available for sale include artwork, hardware, tools, even sheets and aircraft parts.

Food vendors and trucks include everything from national chain restaurants to local favorites.

KidVenture

Kids have a chance to explore different aspects of aviation during KidVenture. They can fly a radio-controlled airplane, learn some aviation history, ride in a flight simulator, learn the basics of building and more.

AirVenture Youth Welcome Center: EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2023 will feature a Youth Welcome Center. Here's what to know about the center and youth activities.

Runway 5K

This charity run is open to all ages. Proceeds will benefit the Winnebago County Sherriff’s K-9 Unit. The run will take off at 7 a.m. July 29 from the Ultralight Barn.

Registration includes a T-shirt (size not guaranteed unless you registered before June 21), post-race food and refreshments, and admission to AirVenture on race day. Online registration will close at 3 p.m. July 28 and open again at 5:30 a.m. July 29 at race check-in.
