A look at more than 40 fall-related events & Halloween-themed things to do in the Augusta area

October is here and November is just around the corner, which means fall is in full effect across the Augusta area.

There are all kinds of things to do this time of year: goats and games galore with the county fairs, multiple opportunities for trick-or-treating besides going house-to-house, and dozens of different movie night specials for those who want a family-friendly viewing or a scream-worthy screening. That’s before you get to the local staples making their big returns like Plantation Blood and the Maize at Steed’s Dairy.

Here are more details on these and other autumn activities in the area:

Festivals, fairs and parties

Warren Baptist's Fall Family Festival is 5-7 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Grovetown church at 777 Horizon South Pkwy. There will be inflatables, a mechanical bull, food vendors and other activities.

Stevens Creek's Harvest Day is 5-7 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Augusta church at 3358 Peach Orchard Rd. There will be a trunk-or-treat, hay rides, giveaways and more.

High school football is back: Here are the 2023 schedules for all Augusta-area teams

Wesley United Methodist's Fall Festival is 5-8 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Evans church at 825 North Belair Rd. There will be trunk-or-treating, a pumpkin patch, games, live music and food.

Grace Fellowship's Fall Festival is 6-8 p.m. Oct. 29 at the North Augusta church at 507 West Five Notch Rd. There will be inflatables, free food and a trunk-or-treat.

Top Dawg Tavern's Halloween Fun is 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Oct. 31 in Augusta at 2819 Washington Rd. There will be costume contests, candy for the children and thematic drinks for the adults.

The Fruit Cooler is offering a ton of activities at its Halloween Festival 3-10 p.m. Oct. 31 in Augusta at 3696 Peach Orchard Rd. Some of them include trick-or-treating, costume contests, a haunted house and various games.

Halloween Night at Rally Pointe Grill is Oct. 31 at the Evans restaurant at 4446 Washington Rd. Trunk-or-treating will run 5-6:30 p.m. and live music 7-9 p.m. There will also be a costume contest plus thematic wing and drink specials.

Eudora Wildlife Safari Park's Fall Festival is every weekend (Friday-Sunday) through Nov. 5. The park is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday. The festival will feature pony rides, a petting zoo, corn maze, pumpkin sling shots and more activities.

Fleming Baptist's Fall Festival is 5:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Augusta church at 3027 Peach Orchard Rd. There will be free food, games and hay rides.

Columbia County Fall Fair will be back for its 58th year Nov. 2-12 at the Grovetown fairgrounds at 5462 Columbia Rd. The live entertainment is fairly diverse including a demolition derby, "Sea Lion Splash," petting zoos and a master chainsaw carver. These are all in addition to the many rides and fair food vendors. General admission is $7 in advance and $10 at the gate. Fair hours very by day, and the full schedule is available at columbiacountyfair.net.

Augusta Christian Schools' Fall Festival and Silent Auction is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 4 at 313 Easton Rd. There will be inflatables, a rock climbing wall, games and food.

Bellevue Baptist's Fall Festival is 4-6 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Grovetown church at 714 Reynolds Rd. There will be crafts, games and food.

Lakeside High's PTSO Fall Vendor Fair is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 11 in Evans at 533 Blue Ridge Dr. There will be craft vendors, food trucks, face painting and a photo station.

Trick-or-treat and trunk-or-treat events

North Augusta Family YMCA and Premier Martial Arts' Trunk-or-Treat is 5-7 p.m. Oct. 29 in North Augusta 401 W. Martintown Rd. The night will be kicked off with a martial arts performance.

Bartram Trail's Trunk-or-Treat is 5 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Evans golf club at 470 Bartram Trail Club Dr. There will also be hayrides and contests. Admission is free and it's open to the public.

Trinity Baptist's Trunk-or-Treat is 6 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Augusta church at 4594 Columbia Rd. There will be live music, food trucks and costumes characters.

Central Baptist's Trunk-or-Treat is 6-8 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Aiken church at 1652 Wire Rd.

Victory Baptist's Trunk-or-Treat is 6-8 p.m. Oct. 29 at the North Augusta church at 620 West Martintown Rd. There will also be concessions and face painting.

Mad Hatter Farm is hosting Trick-or-Treat on the Farm 4-6 p.m. Oct. 21 in Harlem at 1602 Hinton Wilson Rd. There will also be some horses participating in the festivities.

World of Beer's Trunk-or-Treat is 4-7 p.m. Oct. 31. There will also be a bouncy house, costume contest and face painting. "Music Bingo" starts at 7 p.m. and children eat free with the purchase of an entree.

Augusta University's Trunk-or-Treat is 4:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 31 in the parking lot of AU's Christenberry Fieldhouse in Augusta at 3109 Wrightsboro Rd.

Augusta Parks and Recreation's Trunk-or-Treats are 5 p.m. Oct 31 at McDuffie Woods at 3431 Old McDuffie Rd., May Park at 746 4th St. and McBean Community Center and Park at 1155 Hephzibah-McBean Rd.

Southside Tubman Family YMCA's Trunk-or-Treat is 6 p.m. Oct. 31 in Augusta at 2340 Milledgeville Rd.

Special movie nights

Evans Cinemas is offering multiple seasonal specials over the next few days. The Studio Ghibli Fest is bringing the treasured anime "Spirited Away" at 4 p.m. Oct. 29. Flashback Cinemas' screening of "The Shining" on Oct. 29, 31 and Nov. 1.

"Coco" is also being shown for "Movies at the Museum" at 2 p.m. Oct. 29 inside the Augusta Museum of History at 560 Reynolds St. It's free to watch with paid admission to the museum.

"Hotel Transylvania: Transformania" will be screened as part of a family movie night at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at Grovetown Library at 105 Old Wrightsboro Rd. Costumes are encouraged. Popcorn and lemonade will be provided.

Further fall fun

Trivia with Mike Sleeper is hosting Halloween Trivia at 7 p.m. Oct. 30 at Draft Society in Augusta at 875 Broad St. and at Pizza Joint in Aiken at 125 Richland Ave. W. There will be prizes for the top three scoring individuals/teams.

Plantation Blood is back now through Oct. 31, and this year, the haunted attraction's theme is "Asylum Breakout." The plantation is located in south Augusta at 4127 Wallie Ave. On most weeks, it's open Thursday through Saturday starting at 7:30 p.m. and remaining open until the last guest has gone through. The Maize at Steed's Dairy is back at the Grovetown farm now through Nov. 12 at 4634 Wrightsboro Rd. It's open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays and 1-7 p.m. Sundays. The main attraction is the five-acre corn maze, but it is complemented by several other activities like hay rides, a petting zoo, cow-milking demonstrations and a jumping pillow. There is also food and pumpkins on the vine available for purchase. General admission is $12. For more information, go to steedsdairy.com.

The 7th annual October Spooktacular is a Halloween-themed art gallery at Le Chat Noir now through Nov. 3. An artists reception will be 6-9 p.m. Oct. 20, with free admission plus thematic food and cocktails. Costumes are encouraged.
