Originally hosted at the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts back in 2019, the "Thierry Mugler: Couturissime" exhibition has now landed in New York City's Brooklyn Museum.

Slated to open to the public later this week, the exhibit was celebrated at an opening event, which saw attendance from celebrities like Kylie Jenner, Tinashe and more. Curated by Thierry-Maxime Loriot, the show highlights Thierry Mugler's career as a couturier and designer with around 130 looks displayed throughout the space, which previously featured an exhibition honoring Virgil Abloh.

Works on display include everything from haute couture outfits to unpublished archives, most of which are making their debut to the public for the first time. The exhibition takes viewers back to the beginnings of Mugler's professional career, which started with dancing for the Ballet de l’Ópera national du Rhin. With his experience as a dancer, Mugler used his understanding of the human body and form, which later informed and influenced his body-hugging silhouettes and designs.

Upon entering the space, visitors will be able to browse through Mugler's works according to theme, which are divided into fantasy, glamour, science fiction, eroticism and the natural world. Works are on display in various forms, including a life-size hologram of the designer's creations for a theatrical production of La Tragédie de Macbeth. You'll also be able to see the Fall/Winter 1995 Venus dress famously worn by Cardi B at the 2019 Grammy Awards.

Take a look inside the show in the gallery above. The "Thierry Mugler: Couturissime" exhibition is open from November 18, 2022, to May 7, 2023.
