Take a Look Inside Balenciaga's Edgy New Flagship

Balenciaga's men's and women's once separate Miami locations are set to reopen as one space, making it the largest Balenciaga store in the US to date.

A two-story, 786-square meter space, the new store was designed in line with the brand's Raw Architecture concept, recently seen in its St. Tropez store, which opened in June this year. In a bid to respect existing structural elements, the new store's builds and renovations had to adhere to strict sustainability requirements.

Offering a fluid approach to design, Balenciaga products like ready-to-wear, shoes, bags, accessories, jewelry, eyewear and objects appear in "atemporal" conditions, not associated with or restricted to one specific contingency. Developed with a glass and chrome façade, the store boasts two backlit Balenciaga signs over each floor's entrance, complete with cracked and crumbling concrete bricks, elements of scrubbed graffiti and tiled walls. A definite juxtaposition with its polished surroundings, the new store features design details reminiscent of Miami's historic architecture like Art Deco-inspired flooring and enamel spills.

As part of its responsible design, the new store features benches upholstered with a cactus-based material and showcases an original work by Swedish-born, Copenhagen-based artist Charlotte Thrane, made from locally sourced and upcycled mattresses and cushions.
