Britney Has Faced A Tough Few Months

The singer has faced a tough few months with legal and family drama putting a heavy weight on her shoulders. She has faced a custody battle with ex Kevin Federline, and is fighting for her conservatorship rights, which her father now has.

However, a source told ET, "Britney struggles to keep her life on track, but right now she's been doing incredibly well. Her family is very proud of the steps she's taken to get where she is today."

They continued, "Britney's been following her doctor's orders and is in a very stable place at the moment. She is trying to keep life simple and spend time with Sam and her kids whenever possible. She plans to spend her birthday with her boys. She wants to just have a nice time with family."

Things Went Downhill In 2004

While Britney Spears may have become an icon in the '90s when her hit music video for "Hit Me Baby One More Time" was released, and she had a hell of a career after, things seemed to go south for the star around 2004.

It was at the beginning of that year when she married Jason Alexander in Las Vegas at the Little White Wedding Chapel. While the actual marriage was a shock to everyone, it wasn't as shocking when she had it annulled a mere 55 hours later. She later called the wedding just a "silly" thing.

Maybe she could just gamble and get drunk at a strip club next time like everyone else?

Things Became Chaotic When She Married Kevin Federline

That same year, Britney started dating Kevin Federline, a former backup dancer for her most famous ex, Justin Timberlake. The romance moved at warp speed with the couple getting married, and pregnant a short while later.

The couple appeared in their own reality show in 2005, Britney and Kevin: Chaotic. It was shot documentary-style, however fans did not like the show and it was heavily criticized. She later called it one of the worst career mistakes she had ever made.

Clearly, she must have said that well before the head shaving incident.

Britney Shaves Her Head

In one of the most shocking and talked about things the star has ever done, she walked into a salon and shaved off all her hair, in full view of the paparazzi, back in 2007.

It was clear the former teen sensation was having a breakdown. It was shortly after this incident when she was caught on camera bashing at the car of a paparazzi photographer with an umbrella.

She later checked into rehab, and it was at this time that she was placed under a conservatorship controlled by her father.

Britney Spears has been known as the queen of scandal for many years now, but as she turns 38, it appears the singer has turned her life around.
