The Lonely Island Share New Oscars Song 'Why Not Me': Listen

In which Thor and Wonder Woman ask why their films aren’t nominated, and more

The Lonely Island have shared a demo for what they say is a rejected Oscars song, “Why Not Me.” Their new storyboard video opens with a text crawl that reads, “We were asked to write a song for this year’s Oscars... Unfortunately it wasn’t chosen because it was ‘financially and logistically impossible,’ so for fun we thought we'd share the rough storyboards of what would have been a fully shot, star-studded music video of exorbitant cost.” The song features placeholder vocals, and features various actors and movie characters (Thor, Wonder Woman, Pennywise the Clown) asking whey their movies were left out of Academy Award contention. Find it below.

In 2015, the Lonely Island and Tegan and Sara teamed up to perform their Oscar-nominated song “Everything is Awesome” (from The Lego Movie) at that year’s award ceremony.
