Logansport resident to represent Cass County for the first time in Miss Indiana USA pageant this June

May 6—Marissa Stacy of Logansport will soon be making history as the first woman to compete and represent Cass County at the Miss Indiana USA pageant this year, according to a press release.

The Miss Indiana USA pageant is the official preliminaries to the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants, with the woman who is crowned going on to compete at Miss USA in Hollywood in August. 25-year-old Stacy said she is thrilled to represent her home on the state pageant stage.

"I have always looked up to the other women involved in pageantry, as well as their incredible advocacy and the good they do in their communities," Stacy said in the press release. "I hope to inspire women of all ages to be leaders in their communities."

Stacy graduated from Texas Christian University in 2021 and is a journalist. Her hobbies include cheering on her favorite football teams, attending country music concerts and traveling the world, the press release says.

She is the daughter of Logansport resident Marla Pumel and the granddaughter of the late Marvin and Martha Pumel, who were also Logansport residents. As a child, she loved getting custard at Sycamore Drive-In, catching rings at the Dentzel Carousel and getting a Spanish bun at B&K, and also is the self-proclaimed biggest fan of Bruno's pizza.

Stacy hopes to continue her work advocating for children's hospitals, focusing on children with congenital heart disease. Logan, her little cousin, had three open heard surgeries before the age of three, and Stacy has seen the work children's hospitals do to ease that challenge. She looks forward to attending as many local community events as possible, seeing old friends and meeting new ones, according to the release.
