Local zydeco legend performs with The Rolling Stones

NEW ORLEANS (KLFY) — On the last weekend of the New Orleans Jazz Fest, Louisiana zydeco legend Dwayne “Dopsie” Rubin took the stage with The Rolling Stones.

What happens when you mix a legendary rock and roll band with a legendary zydeco band? A clash of music genres producing sounds to move the soul!

At New Orleans Jazz Fest, southwest Louisiana’s zydeco music culture is being well represented by Dwayne “Dopsie” Rubin, in a once in a lifetime performance.

Rubin, the son of zydeco legend Rockin’ Dopsie performed Thursday with the one and only Mick Jagger and The Rolling Stones before a massive crowd of music lovers.

“I grew up listening to their music. You know, I’ve always loved The Rolling Stones’ music, you know, just to be able to watch them as a child growing up. To actually be on stage and playing with them is I mean, it was a I don’t think that I slept for like three days,” said Rubin.

Rubin tells News 10, now having performed with Jagger and his legendary band, that it was an experience of a lifetime he will always cherish.
