Local weatherman feels the wrath of 'This Is Us' fans

This Is Us fans were elated last night for the season 3 premiere of the popular NBC show – The Big Three is back, baby!

However, fans in the Toledo, OH area were not so happy to discover their premiere watching plans were derailed by severe thunderstorms and tornado threats.

Local NBC affiliate station WTOL 11 in Toledo cut into the cry fest that was the This Is Us premiere to update citizens on the weather, and well, fans were simply not pleased with that decision. They took their anger out on Twitter – specifically targeting WTOL 11’s Chief Meteorologist, Robert Shiels.

Shiels, determined to do his job of informing the area of severe weather, carried on with the storm coverage, but acknowledged the nasty comments that flooded his social media pages.

“…My main concern at the time is those in danger from a tornadic (sic) thunderstorm,” he wrote on Facebook. “Thank you for understanding. That said changes may be forthcoming to the way we treat severe weather situations on the air. If you have comments or suggestions today please leave them for me.”

Shiels may have missed the many, many comments where his viewers certainly did NOT understand the reason why he cut into This Is Us…
