Local painters encouraged to find inspiration in nature for Scituate's Arts Alive! Weekend

SCITUATE –  Artists will be breaking out their canvases, brushes and paint to join the Scituate Arts Association's Arts Alive! Weekend for two days in Scituate Harbor.

The association, which has hosted the event for 16 years, invites people of all ages to participate in the "en plein air” – outdoor – painting event Saturday and Sunday, June 11 and 12.

"It means you going out into the open air, painting what you observed in nature," Janet Cornacchio, the president of the association, explained.

Cornacchio said she expects the participants to walk around Scituate Harbor and paint whatever inspires them.

"This is supposed to be fun," she said. "It's about hanging out with family and friends."
