Lizzo Explains Her Awkward Meeting With Luenell After 'SNL' Performance

One thing that many folks tend to forget is that celebrities are people too. Sure, they're people with a hell of a lot more money than the rest of us, but at the end of the day they're no different than anybody else. And when two celebrities meet it can go either one of two ways; really good, or really bad. Unfortunately, this was the case when comedian Luenell finally had an opportunity to meet Lizzo after her stellar SNL performance.

The entire episode was a huge success, featuring the return of former Saturday Night Live cast member Eddie Murphy, whose career has gone on to become one of the most iconic of any former SNL comedian. For years Murphy was asked to return but only recently came back for its 40th anniversary. But in 2019, to close out the last show of the decade Murphy decided he would return as host to bring back some of his most beloved characters from SNL's past including Mr. Robinson, Buckwheat and pimp daddy extraordinaire Velvet Jones.

Lizzo was a beautiful addition to the entire show, which Indie Wire claimed to be one of the best in years.

If there’s one episode where it makes sense for there to be a lot of celebrity cameos, it’s the Eddie Murphy episode. The vibe at Studio 8H this whole week must’ve been like a welcome-home party (or absolute chaos), and surely there were plenty of other former cast members and major stars who tried to be part of it all. At the same time, this episode found a way to use all of its cast, without them getting lost or thrown away in favor of said celebrities.

But things weren't all good for everyone, especially comedian Luenell who was excited about meeting Lizzo that night. Celebrity Insider reports that once the show concluded Luenell went to approach Lizzo and it did not go as planned.

Luenell, who worked with Murphy on Dolemite Is My Name, was able to go backstage where she met the Truth Hurts singer who didn’t seem as excited to meet her.

She took to Instagram to talk about the incident, but she didn't seem angry about it.

In part she wrote;

"Hey @lizzobeeating when I briefly spoke 2 u last weekend @nbcsnl u didn’t seem particularly excited ta meet me like I was ta meet You but it was a Lot of activity going on and ur Mom & Sis Totally made up fa that because they were Stoaked & we took pics and hugged it up.

Lizzo commeted on her post explaining what was going on.

‘Omg I was so excited and overwhelmed it was SNL!!! Not to mention I had the flu so I was on a lot of medication that made me mellow as hell… even my family was worried about me because I was sooo in the zone. But I love u!! And holla atcha girl. Happy New Years!!!’

Luenell even proposed the two of them collaborate on a project together. Hopefully that's a thing that will happen very soon because it would be HILARIOUS.
