Lizzo Has The Best Response To 'South Park' Name-dropping Her In Ozempic Episode

Lizzo has broken her silence about a joke on "South Park" that name-checked her in an Ozempic and weight loss episode.

The Grammy award-winning singer noted that for the comedy show to reference her means her effort to promote body positivity is making an impact.

The "About Damn Time" rapper has reacted to a scene on the hit TV show which name-dropped her while talking about a character's craving to want to lose weight.

Taking to her TikTok and Instagram account, Lizzo, born Melissa Viviane Jefferson, shockingly responded gracefully to the issue, acknowledging that what it means to her is that her efforts to promote body positivity are not in vain.

"I really showed the world how to love yourself and not give a f--k to the point where these men in Colorado know who the f--k I am and put it in their cartoon that's been around for 25 years," she said.

"I showed you all how to not give a f--k, and I'm going to keep on showing you how to not give a f--k," Lizzo added.

What Happened In The South Park Episode?

The episode "South Park: The End of Obesity" explored the popular weight loss drug Ozempic, which has taken over Hollywood.

Initially prescribed for type 2 diabetes patients, the drug has gained notoriety for its weight loss capability and has been widely praised by several celebrities.

On the show, the weight loss drugs take the quiet mountain town of South Park by storm as one of its leading characters, Eric Cartman, is introduced to it. After the overweight, foul-mouthed Cartman is denied access to the drug because he can't afford it and the insurance won't cover it for him, he taps Kyle, Stan, Butters, and Kenny for help.

Lizzo's name came up on the show when a doctor told Cartman, who was unsatisfied with his weight, that he would be prescribed "Lizzo."

"I'm going to write you a prescription for Lizzo. She's a really good singer who talks about body positivity and just being happy with the way you look," the doctor said. "I want you to listen to Lizzo five times a day and watch her videos just before bedtime. I'm afraid you'll have to be on Lizzo for the rest of your life."

The trolling seemingly didn't stop there as another woman mentioned that she was on "Lizzo," a drug that "controlled all her cravings to be thinner."

The Primetime Emmy Award-winning sitcom was created by writers Trey Parker and Matt Stone and first debuted on Comedy Central in 1997. It has been renewed to run until 2027, taking it to its 30th season on air.

Fans Praise The Singer For Her Response To The Joke

Lizzo's reaction to the "South Park" joke has been praised by fans for being positive and for her seemingly not taking any offense.

One person said, "This was a [definitely] compliment in South Park speak. And shed a light on income disparity in our healthcare system."

Another commented, "I was so hoping you weren't going to be offended but see this as a win, and you didn't disappoint me."

"You are now cemented in pop culture history," a third person noted.

Lizzo Was Accused Of Fat Shaming

Known for her body positivity lyrics and weight loss efforts, it came as a shock in August when three of Lizzo's former dancers accused her of fat shaming and sexual harassment, which she has vehemently denied.

The former backup dancers, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, filed a lawsuit claiming they were sexually harassed and were subjected to a hostile work environment during their time working with Lizzo, per the DailyMail.

The lawsuit mentioned that Lizzo fat-shamed one of them and forced another to engage in a raunchy activity with a nude performer in a strip club. They also claimed that she invited "cast members to take turns touching the nude performers" inside an Amsterdam strip club.

The "Rumors" crooner also allegedly encouraged "catching dildos launched from the performers' vaginas and eating bananas protruding from the performers' vaginas."

Among other allegations are religious harassment, disability discrimination, racial harassment, and a hostile work environment.

She Denied The Allegations

The singer took to her X and Instagram account to respond to the allegations, noting that they were "too outrageous" while insisting that she's "not the villain" in this case.

"These last few days have been gut-wrenchingly difficult and overwhelming disappointing," she wrote. "My work ethic, morals, and respectfulness have been questioned. My character has been criticized. Usually, I choose not to respond to false allegations, but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous not to be addressed."

She shared that she sometimes "has to make hard decisions," but she did not intend to hurt anyone or make them feel unimportant.

"I'm hurt, but I will not let the good work I've done in the world be overshadowed by this. I want to thank everyone who has reached out in support to lift me up during this difficult time," the singer added.

Lizzo's former employees slammed her response for having a "dismissive" undertone and an "utter lack of empathy."
