Liz Hurley felt ‘comfortable’ filming sex scene directed by her son

Elizabeth Hurley said she felt “comfortable” filming a sex scene directed by her son.

The actress, 58, said commentators had made a “lot of fuss” about her role in Strictly Confidential, adding: “I’ve never really done a scene like that before”.

Her 22-year-old son, Damian, said he had brought in his mother to make Strictly Confidential, his directorial debut, “sexier”.

In the film, a thriller set in the Caribbean, Hurley strikes up a relationship with a character played by actress Pear Chiravara.

“I think there’s a lot of factors making it a particularly interesting scene for people,” she said, noting the 30-year age difference with her co-star.

“People are making a lot of fuss”, she told People magazine. Although she said the film is “quite out there and daring”, there is no nudity in the scene.

“Nobody’s exploited at all. We all felt comfortable doing it,” the Mickey Blue Eyes actress added.

In a separate interview in March, Hurley said that her son’s presence meant she felt “safe and looked after”, despite the script going beyond her normal roles.

She also revealed that Damian, her son with the American film producer Steve Bing, takes pictures of her posing in bikinis for her swimwear range because it is more “relaxing” than being photographed by a stranger.

“Who likes being photographed in bikinis? No one, even when you’re 22 and fabulous,” Hurley said.

“But it’s relaxing knowing someone’s behind the camera who looks out for me, which was the same on this movie in a way.

“The things that his script needed me to do weren’t necessarily things I’d always done in movies many times before.

“But having him there meant that I felt safe and looked after, and I knew, in the production and in the post, he’d look after me.”

Damian attempted to downplay questions about his mother’s sex scene in a recent Vogue interview. “It’s just showbiz,” he said. “People are getting very up in arms about this.”

He had written Hurley’s part for a man in earlier drafts of the script but eventually switched it for a female character.

“I started thinking, ‘How can I make it sexier?’ And just thought, ‘Oh my God, what if it’s a woman?’” he said.

“Of course, the second I had that part, it made total sense to beg, beg, my mighty mother to come on board.”
