Want to win a share of the more than $12 million in cash and other prizes that "The Price Is Right Live" has to offer? "The Price Is Right" show — on TV — has been adapted for stage in this touring live non-televised version, coming to the Brown County Music Center on Feb. 28.

Tickets are selling quickly.

A celebrity host will guide randomly selected contestants as they play games such as Plinko, Cliffhangers, The Big Wheel and the Showcase. Prefer not to "come on down"? Some audience members will claim prizes directly from their seats.

Generations of fans across the U.S. have been thumbs-upping "The Price is Right Live" and its family fun. The show's producer, Jeff Palmer, along with his team, keep up to date on the games, the prizes and the excitement that happens onstage and in the audience.

Popular TV show, now in the flesh

"We work hard to make sure everyone’s experience is as authentic and entertaining as possible," he said in an email.

For more than five decades, viewers from different social strata have watched "The Price is Right" in their homes.

"It’s a shared experience everyone can relate to," Palmer said. "We watch the TV show and imagine ourself up there playing the game. What would I guess? What would I win?"

To discover what people want from the live show, staff asked the source: "Fans have told us what are the most popular games," he said. "We think of it as our ‘greatest hits.’"

How to participate on stage at 'The Price Is Right Live'

As the show is about to begin, a computer chooses the contestants at random. Guests can register either beforehand electronically on their devices — or at the Brown County Music Center starting two hours before the show.

At each performance location a special celebrity host leads the contestants through the show as the audience watches.

Do those who grew up on PIR outrank younger audience members?

"Our audiences are an amazing mix of young and old from all walks of life," Palmer said. "We often have three generations of a family all come to and enjoy the show together."

Bob Barker hosted the TV show "The Price Is Right" for 35 years, making it part of Americana. When Barker left in 2007, Ohio-born comedian Drew Carey started hosting.

Past audiences have enjoyed the one-year supply of premium ice cream the show recently featured. Palmer himself would prefer to win one of the big trips.

And don't worry if you're not a ham. Palmer said all kinds of personalities show up: "We love all our contestants, even the introverts! The audience really gets behind them and wants them to win."

Palmer has plenty of experience making audiences cheer. In addition to co-creating live tours of "The Price is Right," “Family Feud” and “America's Got Talent,” he served as a lead producer for Walt Disney Entertainment and made the video content for “The American Idol Experience” at Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, a theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida.

Among Palmer's accomplishments is producing and directing for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts and coming up with new ideas for live entertainment and TV. His expertise helped create live versions of established brands such as The Voyage of the Little Mermaid and Disney's Doug.

How you prepare to win at 'The Price Is Right Live'

Contestants needn't be particularly knowledgeable about prices. Either a general sense of what things cost — or luck, Palmer said — will help.

"I’ve heard that people have brushed up on prices before coming to the show, but with so many prizes and games it would only help in a general sense."
