No. 2 Ohio State 28, No. 8 Penn State 17

Ohio State got a second-half scare, but it remained undefeated and clinched a spot in the Big Ten title game on Dec. 7.

[Thamel: Did OSU let shot at No. 1 slip away?]

Justin Fields’ TD pass to K.J. Hill on the first possession of the second half gave the Buckeyes (11-0, 8-0 Big Ten) a three-touchdown lead. But Penn State (9-2, 6-2) cut the lead to 21-17 before Fields hit Chris Olave with a 28-yard TD pass with 13:18 to play in the game.

With 2:27 left in the game on fourth-and-5, Fields was injured on a sack, but he was able to get off the field on his own power — and the Ohio State fan base let out a sigh of relief.

Trailing 21-0, Sean Clifford was hurt in the third quarter and backup QB Will Levis came into the game. Levis led the Nittany Lions to their first score on an 18-yard TD run from Journey Brown to cut the lead to 21-7.

J.K. Dobbins fumbled deep in Ohio State territory on its next possession, and Levis scored to cut the lead to 21-14 with 7:54 left in the third quarter.

Then Fields fumbled on the Buckeyes’ next possession and Penn State took over at the OSU 35, but it had to settle for a field goal to make it 21-17.

Ohio State nearly ran away with the game in the first half.

Already leading 7-0, Fields was credited with a TD run — but on review it showed that Fields fumbled before reaching the end zone on a hit from Lamont Wade and Penn State recovered.

Later in the quarter, Fields ran for a 22-yard gain on fourth-and-5 to give Ohio State the ball inside Penn State’s 5. That led to another Dobbins TD run and a 14-0 halftime lead.

Penn State drove into Ohio State territory on its first possession of the game but was forced to punt. The Buckeyes took over at their own 9-yard line. Thirteen plays, 91 yards and 5:04 later, Ohio State scored the game’s first points on a 4-yard TD run by Dobbins. The Buckeyes got all 91 yards on the ground.

Chase Young is back from his two-game suspension, and a first-quarter sack on Penn State’s next possession put him in the Ohio State record book.

The action between the teams started before kickoff.

And there was more talking at halftime.

No. 4 Georgia 19, Texas A&M 13

It wasn’t pretty, but Georgia got it done.

The Aggies scored a touchdown — a 19-yard pass from Kellen Mond to Jhamon Ausbon to complete a 10-play, 75-yard drive — to pull within a TD of the undefeated Bulldogs with 11:16 to play.

A&M got the ball back at its own 10-yard line with 8:06 to play, and a couple of long pass plays got the Aggies into Georgia territory. But they had to punt and the Bulldogs took over at their 10-yard line with 4:26 remaining.

Georgia, however, was able to run out the clock.

“With this group, it’s the way they should go out,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart said of the senior day victory.

But it still was tough to watch at times.

Rodrigo Blankenship kicked his career-high fourth field goal on the first play of the fourth quarter as Georgia took a 19-6 lead.

Jake Fromm — who started the game 1-for-7 passing — threw a 16-yard TD pass to George Pickens with 6:56 to play in the first half for the game’s only touchdown. Fromm was 4-of-13 for 72 yards in the first half as Georgia led 13-3 at the break.

Texas A&M fumbled deep in its own territory on its first possession of the second half, and Blankenship kicked his third field goal of the game as Georgia (10-1, 7-1 SEC) built a 16-3 lead.

A&M drove deep into Georgia territory on its next possession, but the Bulldogs stuffed the Aggies on third-and-1 and fourth-and-1 from the UGA 26.

Seth Small has two field goals for the Aggies (7-4, 4-3).
