Little Richard Remembered by Nile Rodgers, Bob Dylan, Questlove, More

Earlier today (May 9), it was reported that Little Richard—the architect of rock’n’roll, and one of the most influential artists of the 20th century—died at the age of 87. Immediately, the music world took to social media to mourn his passing and pay respects to the explosive singer-songwriter and performer.

“This man was literally the blueprint of all the world took from,” wrote Questlove. “Little Richard is the true king. Long live the king.” Mick Jagger called him “the biggest inspiration” of his early teenage years, while Bob Dylan took to Twitter to write, “He was my shining star and guiding light back when I was only a little boy. His was the original spirit that moved me to do everything I would do.

“It is with a heavy heart that I ask for prayers for the family of my lifelong friend and fellow rocker Little Richard,” Jerry Lee Lewis wrote in a statement. “He will live on always in my heart with his amazing talent and his friendship! He was one of a kind and I will miss him dearly. God Bless his family and fans. Rest In Peace, my friend.”
