BAKOS/WEBER: M. E. Bakos signs copies of her Home Renovation Mysteries, the latest of which is “Killer Flip,” and Frank Weber signs his book, “The Haunted House of Hillman.” 10-11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, Lake Country Booksellers, 4766 Washington Square, White Bear Lake.

GRAYWOLF LITERARY SALON: The first in-person fundraising Salon since 2019 hosted by this Minneapolis-based literary press highlights Graywolf writers Roger Reeves, award-winning Texas-based author of two poetry collections; Sally Wen Mao, New York-based author of three poetry collections; and Shannon Sanders, Washington, D.C., whose debut novel “Company” is drawing critics’ raves, with starred reviews from Booklist, Kirkus and Publishers Weekly. This often-hilarious story collection follows three generations of the Black Collins family (four, if you count two babies), who experience generational disputes and envies, adult sibling rivalries mixed with resentment and love, and the younger generation’s feelings about their mothers/aunts and their grandparents, who either bought a jazz club with hard-earned money, or Grandma bought it a different way, depending upon which adult grandchild is telling the story. There is so much love in this novel it deserves all the praise it’s receiving. Definitely one to put on a fall DBR list. $50-$150. Thursday, Sept. 28; 7:30 p.m. program, followed by book signing. The Grand 1858 at Minneapolis Event Centers, 212 Second Street S.E., Mpls. Ticket information: graywolfpress.org.

MINDY MEJIA: Discusses “To Catch a Storm,” her latest thriller and first in a new series in conversation with Allen Eskens. 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, Barnes & Noble, 828 County Road 42 W, Burnsville.

CHUCK PALAHNIUK: Author of the bestselling “Fight Club” introduces “Not Forever, But For Now,” humorous horror satire about two brothers growing up in the Welsh countryside who play with their pet pony, impersonate their grandfather and kill the help. There’s a constant stream of threats and distractions seemingly leaping from the hedgerow, a stream of escaped convicts who keep showing up at their door, and a new tutor who dismembers sex dolls. There’s Mummy’s growing opioid addiction and the disappearance of Daddy when he and Mummy took a walk in the so-called Ghost Forest. 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, Parkway Theater, 4814 Chicago Ave., Mpls., presented by Magers & Quinn. $27.50-$40. Go to eventbrite.com or magersandquinn.com.

ANN PATCHETT: In her ninth novel, “Tom Lake,” bestselling author Patchett returns to the pandemic shutdown during which three sisters, sheltering in the family cherry farm, urge their mother to share details of an early romance with a now-famous actor, weaving a tapestry of past and present. Presented in the Talking Volumes reading series. 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, Fitzgerald Theater, St. Paul. $30. Information: mprevents.org.

PERCY/HILL: An evening with Minnesotan Benjamin Percy and Nathan Hill. Percy’s new novel is “The Sky Vault,” third in his Comet Cycle that features investigation of mysterious weather phenomena in Alaska and a government secret buried since World War II. Hill’s is “Wellness,” about modern marriage, our tech-obsessed health culture, and the bonds that keep people together, told through the marriage of a couple who encounter cults disguised as mindfulness support groups, Facebook wars, and something called Love Potion Number Nine. 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, Magers & Quinn, 3038 Hennepin Ave. S., Mpls. Free, registration required. Go to magersandquinn.com/events.
