Listen to Motörhead’s Cover of David Bowie’s 'Heroes'

“Lemmy was very, very proud of it, not only because it turned out so well, but because it was fun!”

By Braudie Blais-Billie.

On September 1, Motörhead will release a new compilation called Under Cöver. The 11-track album includes the band’s takes on songs by Metallica, Sex Pistols, Ramones, and more. Today, they’ve shared a previously unheard cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes.” Hear it below (via Rolling Stone). Motörhead recorded their “Heroes” cover during the sessions for 2015’s Bad Magic—their final studio album released during Lemmy Kilmister’s lifetime. “It’s such a great Bowie song, one of his best, and I could only see great things coming out of it from us,” guitarist Phil Campbell said in a press release, “Lemmy ended up loving our version.” Drummer Mikkey Dee added, “[Lemmy] was very, very proud of it, not only because it turned out so well, but because it was fun! Which is what projects like this should be—fun!”
