Following her award-winning work on the A Star Is Born soundtrack in 2018, Lady Gaga has returned to the unique space of film-accompanying original music with the release of “Hold My Hand” from the upcoming Top Gun sequel.

The previously teased song, arriving today via Interscope, is produced by Gaga and BloodPop, whom she previously collaborated with on the Joanne and Chromatica albums. Additional production is provided by Benjamin Rice, who worked with Gaga on the Oscar-winning “Shallow” from the aforementioned A Star Is Born.

Hear the years-in-the-making “Hold My Hand” below. Per a press release, the “motion picture version” of the new song boasts additional production and score from Harold Faltermeyer and Hans Zimmer.

As fellow Tom Cruisiasts will note, the original Top Gun—which careened into theaters back in 1986—is quite famous for its deft soundtrack choices, including Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone” and Berlin’s “Take My Breath Away.” With Gaga aboard the proverbial jet for Top Gun: Maverick, repeat soundtrack glory seems likely.

In April, a new trailer for the Joseph Kosinski-directed sequel to the late Tony Scott’s original blockbuster was released. When sharing the trailer to social media, Gaga said she was “so proud” to be part of an “outrageously brave” film.

Top Gun: Maverick, which also sees Val Kilmer reprising his role as Iceman, hits theaters on May 27. See a recently released poster from the surefire megahit below.
