"Dance Dance Dance" drops on Friday

Crystal Waters is back — and she wants you to get up and "Dance Dance Dance."

On Thursday, PEOPLE is exclusively premiering Waters' catchy track "Dance Dance Dance." Waters — who plans to release more singles in the near future — tells PEOPLE she chose the song because it was the first she wrote after COVID-19 lockdowns.

"Its uplifting and embodies the feeling of just wanting to get out and have a good time," Waters, 61, says.

She adds, "I hope the reaction will be awesome! I’ve already started performing the song in my shows and people really love it — by the end of the song everyone is singing along."

In "Dance Dance Dance," Waters stays true to her roots in house music.

"You make me want to dance dance dance / I wanna dance 'till after midnight / Make sweet love 'till sunrise," she sings on the upbeat track.

Waters returned to the spotlight earlier this month with appearances at New York Fashion Week and London Fashion Week. She also collaborated with Untitled Magazine and The Public Hotel in New York City to perform at the hotel’s kick off party for Fashion Week on Sept. 6, followed by a series of more performances.

"It feels great to be in the spotlight again. I was a bit hesitant at first but everyone has welcomed me with open arms," the "Gypsy Woman" singer says.

She continues, "Everyone I speak to has a wonderful memory or story about my songs and my music. The love and appreciation I’m receiving is beyond what I expected."

Waters, who is best known for songs "Gypsy Woman," "100% Pure Love," "Destination Unknown" and "In Da Ghetto," has released three studio albums throughout her career: Surprise, Storyteller — which was RIAA-certified gold — and a self-titled album.

She currently has five shows left on her Radiance tour, though is expected to add more after the release of "Dance Dance Dance" on Friday.
