Listen to Bon Iver Discuss “Holyfields,” on “Song Exploder”

Bon Iver are the latest guests on “Song Exploder,” the podcast hosted by Thao Nguyen where artists dissect their songs. Justin Vernon and producers Brad Cook and Chris Messina talked about “Holyfields,” off i,i. The episode was recorded at Vernon’s Eau Claire studio where they began the song.

Bon Iver finished “Holyfields,”at Sonic Ranch in Texas, not far from El Paso, and Vernon reflected on recording near the U.S.-Mexican border. “Being that close to that border, and everyone at the studio was Mexican, almost except us, being that close to that at this time in our lives, that just influenced everything,” he said. “Trying to gain perspective and trying to be as good of artists as we can be as things like that are going on, so geographically close.” Listen to the episode below.
