The It List: Guess the celebrity in 'The Masked Dancer,' watch 'Wonder Woman 1984' at home and more pop culture highlights of the week
The It List is Yahoo’s weekly look at the best in pop culture. With the Coronavirus pandemic - and the yuletide holiday spirit - in mind, here are our picks for the week of December 21st.
The Masked Dancer premieres Sunday, Dec. 27 on Fox. It merges its popular singing counterpart with Dancing with the Stars, as a group of celebrity panelists attempt to guess the bemasked celebrity dancer.
In keeping with the mask trend, Diana Prince AKA Wonder Woman is back in action. Wonder Woman 1984 premieres Friday, Dec. 25 on HBO Max and in theaters.
Finally, for a movie for the whole family, Pixar has a new instant classic ready to go. Soul premieres Friday, Dec. 25 on Disney+.

- The It List is Yahoo's weekly look at the best in pop culture. With the coronavirus pandemic in mind and the yuletide holiday spirit, here are our picks for the week of December 21st.
Since 2020 is without a doubt the year of the mask, both medical and, well, less medical, it's apparently time to move from masked singing to masked dancing. "The Masked Dancer" emerges its popular singing counterpart with "Dancing with the Stars" as a group of celebrity panelists attempt to guess the be-masked celebrity dancer.
- How are you at memorizing lines of dialogue?
- I would say I'm a pro.
- I know is under that mask.
- Based on the teaser, it looks like we can expect a dancing rose, a dancing zebra, a dancing shark, and many, many more.
In keeping with the mask trend, Diana Prince, a.k.a. Wonder Woman, is back in action. "Wonder Woman 1984" pits the lasso-wrangling heroine against a new nefarious baddie, Maxwell Lord, played by Pedro Pascal. Steve Trevor, Wonder Woman's love interest played by Chris Pine. Also returns, and once again director Patty Jenkins is at the helm. But in a dramatic first for blockbusters, "Wonder Woman 1984" is getting a simultaneous release both in theaters and on HBO Max because of safety concerns due to the coronavirus.

Finally, for a movie for the whole family, Pixar has a new incident classic ready to go. "Soul" might feature the studio's trademark adorable animation style, but the movie covers surprisingly weighty ground. Aspiring jazz musician Joe Gardner is on the cusp of a big break when tragedy strikes. He's then transported to the afterlife and then the before life as he struggles to return to regular life. But don't worry. It still has jokes for all ages.
