Lisa Loeb remembers her iconic music video ‘Stay’ and that special Betsey Johnson dress

Singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb’s 1994 song “Stay (I Missed You)” was the lead single in the movie “Reality Bite” starring Ethan Hawke, Winona Ryder and Ben Stiller. The unforgettable song launched her career, thanks to a one-take music video directed by Hawke. Loeb tells Yahoo Entertainment, “The record company let us make a video because Ethan Hawke was directing it, because he was a movie star.” Loeb says she shot the music video “a million times” and trusted Hawke’s creative vision. In the video she wears her glasses, which have become her signature style through the years. “People stop me all the time and say, ‘My little girl wears glasses because you wear glasses,’” she says. And What about that little black dress? Loeb reveals the dress in the music video isn’t black! “It’s so dark that on camera it looked black”, she says.
