Lisa Kudrow, Dan Bucatinsky’s Is or Isn’t Entertainment Inks First-Look Deal With Sony TV

Emmy Award-winners Lisa Kudrow and Dan Bucatinsky and their production company Is or Isn’t Entertainment have signed a multi-year first look deal with Sony Pictures Television. Under the terms of the agreement, Is or Isn’t will develop new scripted television projects for network, cable, and streaming services.

“We are excited to be in collaboration with a studio with a proven commitment to unique and specific voices, originality and a freedom to develop a wide range of projects across all platforms,” said Bucatinsky and Kudrow. “It’s certainly how we’ve approached our projects for the nearly 15 years since we’ve been partners.”

Is or Isn’t Entertainment is a television, film and new media company, founded in 2003 by Kudrow and Bucatinsky. The company’s first series was HBO’s Emmy-nominated “The Comeback,” which premiered in 2005 and starred Kudrow. It returned nine years later for a second season, garnering another nomination for Kudrow for her role as Valerie Cherish.

In the unscripted space, Is or Isn’t partnered with the U.K.’s Wall-to-Wall Media in 2010, bringing the hit BBC docu-series “Who Do You Think You Are?” to NBC. Now in its tenth season, the Emmy Award-nominated show transitioned to TLC in 2013. In 2008, Is or Isn’t Entertainment launched the webseries “Web Therapy” on Lexus’ broadband site LStudio. The series, created by Don Roos, Bucatinsky and Kudrow, starred Kudrow as Internet therapist Dr. Fiona Wallice and Bucatinsky as Wallice’s assistant, Jerome, with the show taking place completely on a computer desktop. A half-hour version of the web series debuted on Showtime in 2011, and ran for four seasons. The show format has been re-made in Poland, Spain, French Canada, and, most recently, in the UK.

In partnership with Dan Savage and Lexus, Is or Isn’t premiered the web docuseries “It Got Better” in 2014, featuring profiles of LGBT celebrities like Laverne Cox, George Takei, Jane Lynch, Tim Gunn, Portia De Rossi, Adam Lambert, Sir Ian McKellen, Rosie O’Donnell, Janet Mock, Andrew Rannells, RuPaul, and more.

Kudrow is repped by CAA and attorney Mark Gochman. Bucatinsky is repped by CAA, Sanders Armstrong Caserta Management, and attorney Robert Myman.
