Lionsgate Production Co-President Bobby Cohen Exiting Post
EXCLUSIVE: Bobby Cohen, Lionsgate’s co-president of production, is exiting his post. The move comes on the heels of the departure of Rob Friedman as co-chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group in September. Peter Kang, Lionsgate’s other co-president of production with Cohen, likely will step up to take over a combined role.
Cohen is segueing into a production deal at Lionsgate, we’re told. That would return him to his roots — his producing credits before taking the co-prez gig with Gillian Bohrer in June 2015 include Now You See Me and Revolutionary Road.
Bohrer exited the studio in January and eventually became EVP Production at Fox 2000. Erik Feig remains the top production exec at the studio. Friedman, meanwhile, shifted to a special advisor to Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer.
Kang moved over to Lionsgate in April from Paramount, where he was EVP Production, filling Bohrer’s post. Before Paramount, he had the same title at Fox, where he oversaw the relaunch of the Planet Of The Apes franchise and brought in such book-based properties as Gone Girl, The Maze Runner and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.
At Paramount, Kang’s projects include the Robert Zemeckis-directed WWII romantic thriller Allied, the Brad Pitt-Marion Cotillard pic that has been slotted for an awards-season release November 23.
